Security work isn’t glamorous, but it sure beats being pwned. The PSF says its Python Security Response Team (PSRT) shipped 16 vulnerability advisories for CPython and pip last year—record high—and even coordinates to avoid blindsiding the ecosystem (hello, PyPI ZIP differential attack mitigation). Herding cats? More like herding CVEs 😼

The PSF have enough reputation with me personally that I'm not concerned.

If you have the opportunity to steal a couple of million from the Barrons and in turn offer them basically nothing. then that is *good actually*

It would be useful to scrutinise the text of the agreement as that is where the legal traps are that would force the PSF to do silly things that harm the community.

i.e. Take their money and damn their eyes.

Denkt daran, ein paar Euro wenn möglich, in die Kaffeekasse von wichtigen Softwareprojekten wie #Django oder der #PSF / #Python oder bei #Tor oder oder oder oder einzuwerfen. Im Grunde egal – eben bei eurem Freie Software-Universum und den Tools, die ihr regelmäßig nutzt.

Dank des Orangen Mannes sind viele Unterstützungen durch die USA ausgelaufen und Europa hat es nicht auf den Deckel gebracht, da einzustehen. Jetzt müssen wir ran.

Cory Doctorow in "Enshittification" explains that all computers are universal machines and they can run any programs. The issue is only in big monopolists (incl. FAAMG) which lock the market by making restrictions - through their marketplaces, I.P. law, etc.

Python's PYPI is something opposite - it's like the marketplace which allows to run its packages on any platform. No restrictions - just freedom.
