I wish we had roasted #chestnuts at our Christmas markets, but they're just not a thing here. So instead, I splurged €20 on chestnuts in #Munich yesterday. 😂 And look at the cool bag I got from one stall: with a pouch for the shells! 😱
I'm currently trying to reheat them in a pan to recreate that toasty taste and feel, but I'm not sure if it'll work. Maybe the oven would be better. 🤔 I'll try with the next handful! 👩‍🔬

#RoastedChestnuts

Anyone else eat roasted chestnuts? They aren't super amazing, and would be better if I could pick them from a tree rather than pay $10/lb, but it's fun for the season. Goes with the song :^P

They all seem to come from Italy for some reason. I guess no one else grows them commercially.

Two roasted chestnuts on a dull yellow dish. There were ten of them, but I ate a bunch before I thought of making a dumb toot. The chestnuts are chestnut brown(you think that's where the color name comes from?), and the hulls are split open. You do that with a knife before you roast them. I think they might explode if you don't cut them first. Makes them easier to peel in any case. The traditional way to roast them is over an open fire, but I used a toaster oven. 450° for 25 minutes.

I got my chestnuts in the mail today. They will be roasted, not on an open fire, trying to head that question off right now.
