Episode Notes

Dahlia Lithwick is joined by former federal prosecutor Mimi Rocah, who brings her extensive experience trying and supervising federal criminal cases to a discussion of what the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse can teach us about justice.

She suggests that the Trump administration’s eleventh-hour switchback tactic of calling for investigations of only Democrats speaks volumes about how the Justice Department is functioning these days, proving that vindictive prosecutions are the only game in town, bonus if they also have the effect of power-washing the president’s shadow from the scandal.

Next, they turn to the extraordinary scenes in a Virginia courtroom this week, as the DOJ’s case against former FBI director and Trump foe James Comey seemed ready to fall apart at the seams. As this administration’s practice of political interference in legal proceedings is supercharged by dear leader’s “Dear Pam” posts to “his” AG Pam Bondi, this conversation highlights why judicial integrity and the ever-expanding ranks of judges refusing to accept lies, are among the last best hopes for equal justice under the law in America.

Prof Franks cont. 5: "And one of the many, many self-defeating things about this way of looking at the world or choosing not to see the world is to think that it's not going to come for you too at some point, right? That we're making this world a dangerous place for everyone. Everyone's less safe. .."

I got the #SlatePlus in today and it works much better for me compared to the #Beryl. Getting #Tailscale to work on it the way I have in my head will be a project for another day. I did get #Windscribe set up on it and working with the switch on the side, however!

It’s going to be a cool little gadget for me to have when I’m making my trips around the state.

Started messing around with a #GLiNet #Beryl travel router. Really like the concept, but found out that I need v4.x of their firmware to do what I want to. The stable branch was still on 3.x for the Beryl so I tried the beta version of the 4.x. It wasn’t the best. Also found that the Beryl only has 32mb of storage. Lulz.

I’m returning the Beryl and getting a GL-iNet #SlatePlus instead. The main reason being the 128mb of storage and, since it’s newer, easier access to the 4.x firmware.

This is one of those things where I don’t really need a travel router, but I do travel around the state a lot for work. Something like this could be handy. Also, I love playing with little toys like this.
