Having said that, you should question the motivation someone has telling you not to take any action to protect yourself after a confirmed hack.

Your personal safety and security should never be left to chance. It is not fearmongering to look after yourself and suggest others do the same.

The reason you are told by every website not to share your codes, including your old codes, is these codes are generated by an algorithmic hash. Your old codes can be used to estrapulate and generate future valid codecs. Especially the more older codes someone has.

That is why people downplaying this hack is stupid. - You really should change your password and reset your codes, while registering new recovery codes too.

The reason you are told by every website not to share your codes, including your old codes, is these codes are generated by an algorithmic hash. Your old codes can be used to estrapulate and generate future valid codecs. Especially the more older codes someone has.
