The curl-crested aracari or curl-crested araçari (Pteroglossus beauharnaisii) found in Brazil, Bolivia etc. has a unique, plastic-like crest of fused black feathers unlike any other aracari and is an effective seed disperser vital to the rainforest. It is a social, daytime forager, has a distinctive, loud vocalization described as a rising "eeee-yak," nest in abandoned hollowed-out trees, mostly by woodpeckers.

I took these photos with a plastic baggie covered in Vaseline over my camera to get the blur and distorted effect. I really liked the idea of a vintage weird black and white distorted photo. Sometimes I try and just capture what I'm feeling and make sense of it later. In the end, I got the vibe of some kind of entity being captured in a photo. It went on to inspire this sort of antlered being that is part of a mythical foreign kingdom. #photography #art #strange #portrait
