What I'm listening to this evening: early Chicago. This band is so much better with Terry Kath's guitar, vocals, and energy.

"Make Me Smile" is a song written by #JamesPankow for the rock band #Chicago with the band's guitarist, #TerryKath, on #leadVocals. Part 1 of Pankow's 7-part "#BalletForAGirlInBuchannon" #songCycle/suite, it was recorded for their second album, Chicago (often called Chicago II), which was released in 1970. The song "Now More Than Ever", a separate track from the same song suite, serves as a #reprise of the song.

Happy 80th birthday to Robert Lamm of Chicago who wrote this contemplative song early one morning 55 years ago.
“Waiting for the break of day
Searching for something to say
Flashing lights against the sky
Giving up I close my eyes
Sitting cross-legged on the floor
25 or 6 to 4”

55 years ago today, the Chicago Transit Authority released their critically acclaimed debut album.
“People runnin’ everywhere
Don’t know where to go
Don’t know where I am
Can’t see past the next step
Don’t have time to think past the last one
Have no time to look around
Just run around, run around think why”

Tragico e bello purtroppo vanno spesso a braccetto.

45 years ago #TerryKath of #Chicago died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A tragic loss. Enjoy this thought-provoking piece of music by #RobertLamm.
And I was walking down the street one day
(People runnin' everywhere)
Being pushed and shoved (don't know where to go)
By people trying to beat the clock (I don't know where I am)
Oh no, so I just don't know (I can't see past the next step)
