Remember the Chipmunks? Back in the ‘80s they released an album of alt-pop song covers. Normally, this would be something best left buried in the sands of time. But a few years back, someone took those tracks and slowed them down to half speed…and turned them all into goth-y sludge rock covers.
I think they’re actually kinda great. “Always On My Mind” (covering the Pet Shop Boys version of Elvis’s song) is particularly brilliant.
The songs on the 1987 animated movie The Chipmunk Adventure really have no business being so good! “Off To See The World”, “The Girls of Rock ’n Roll”, “Diamond Dolls”, “My Mother”, and “Chipmunk Adventure Theme” are just some of the songs that I really enjoy and give a hit of childhood nostalgia.
