i transitioned, in straya [but via thailand for a couple of, um, trips, ahem] in the early oughties. at that stage straya was still politically ignorant about trans-peeps... not hostile, just massively ignorant & unhelpful. by comparison, at that time, i recall my view from afar that merka seemed far more advanced in trans awareness, acceptance, & support. my view then might have been very naive, i dunno, but whatever, now that merka is a live fascist hellhole i can't even begin to imagine the daily horrors of being a trans-peep there now. that these would-be asylum-seekers seem destined to be rejected by Netherlands & deported back to merka & hence ICE, is truly nightmarish.

I didn’t want to have to share this but the family referred to in this crowdfund is mine. I wanted to remain anonymous because I am beyond ashamed that I am in this position. @mattsheffield ta for posting this. i've just finished reading the essay, & it's made me so deeply sad. in my naivety / ignorance i had hitherto thought Lawrence Krauss was a pretty good bloke, based on his older visits to Straya, & various tv guest spots years ago. til now i had no idea how badly mistaken i was. the overall effect though of the essay has immiserated me, notwithstanding the ample push-backs & refutations thankfully provided. for me, a depressed socially-phobic post-operative transwoman overwhelmed by the world's manifest transphobia & hate, simply seeing yet more of the hatred & even denial of me & mine, when i'm already ground down by it, is just terrible. i never will comprehend people who feel + express so much bile to difference & variety.
