Eileen Rogers, a railway booking office clerk from #Buckinghamshire, shared her family's 150-year history in the rail industry on London Northwestern Railway’s "On The Rails" podcast. Eileen, who has worked in the industry for 30 years, grew up near #Wolverton Station, where she now works. Her great-grandfather, Robert Johnson, began at Wolverton Works in the 1870s, followed by her grandfather Charles and father, Douglas David Johnson, who became works manager at Wolverton. Eileen’s father later built miniature steam trains for children. Eileen recalls how her father encouraged her to join the railway, leading to a fulfilling career. Returning to work at Wolverton in 2024, she feels a sense of completing the family’s circle in the industry. The podcast also explores other long-standing #railway family histories and highlights future opportunities through apprenticeships.

St Urian had spent her life, travelling the country and doing good works, performing healings and other miracles.

As she grew older she decided to come back to her home the #IsleOfWight, to live out the rest of her days here. She travelled back and decided she would take up lodging within the tiny hamlet of #Wolverton in the #WolfWoods, where her first miracle happened.

When she arrived, to her surprise a well had been constructed around the holy spring.

Today is St Urian's Eve -- St Urian is one of those enigmatic #AngloSaxon #saints that has been lost to time, so much so, the only known shrine and church dedicated to her disappeared (but the is a story for another day.

It is said that the decedents of the displaced villagers from #Wolverton would meet at the now over-grown area called "Centurion's Copes".

They would spend the day hunting all the squirrels and wrens they could find in the woodland and hedgerow.
