#ZarahLeander sings "Der Wind hat mir ein Lied erzählt" in Douglas Sirk's (then Detlef Sierck) 1937 film LA HABANERA. It's an extraordinary scene & breathtaking performance. Dressed in a Latin costume, but with an über-Germanic vocal style, Zarah sings about irresolute tropical desire(!). I love a good #GenreCrosser. And Zarah's cavernous #contralto voice is utterly captivating.
The events on #DorenasWorld can not only be entertaining but also quite educational.
I've been told that #NinaHagen is the best #ZarahLeander ever.
Today I discovered that she's probably also a better #HildegardKnef than #HildegardKnef herself.
