Calling it the "Haymarket Revolt" is a pretty loaded choice of language.

It was a peaceful demonstration, police tried to break it up, somebody threw a bomb, and then the police opened fire and killed a whole lot of people (including police). Later on, the organizers were mostly given the death penalty.

what's really freaky is how these events are commemorated by nearly every country on the planet **except** the US *and* have been pretty thoroughly scrubbed from US public school curricula (US school kids *might* learn that May Day is a Thing but not what it was about or what actually happened).

Another crocheted pillar box topper has appeared around the corner from where I live. This time, it’s a rather good version of Shaun the Sheep. Shaun is leaning forward a bit in these photos I took a few days ago but when I drove past this morning I noticed someone had restored him to the correct upright position.
