Setting up my wee project box and Barrier (it’s a virtual KVM) was giving me the toughest time about the port already being in use. Searched for a PID under “barrier”, found two and killed them both and restarted, no good. Until I finally found a forum where someone was explaining to someone else how to kill the PID for “barriers” plural. That’s annoying, damnit. Anyways, killed those and all was well. Been a while since I played with Linux. Gonna be fun.

Damnit. I picked up a power cord for my old micro-atx, but I’m unable to install Ubuntu. It looks like the HDD is dead. Luckily, the nice little store I found that had the power cord has some cheap used 2.5 hdd, so it’s off to another 5k round trip for me, then see about getting my wee project box running.

I’m feeling concerned that many of us have recently joined #Mastodon and that the long term visually impaired community are now inundated with beautiful photos with no #alttext to describe the photo. Only about 1 in 5 Toots describe photos on my timeline. We all need to curb our enthusiasm to share undescribed photos and embrace our descriptive writing. I’m not on my high horse just concerned that we’ve arrived en masse and need to do our very best to embrace #MastodonCulture.
