This post-#Brexit deal with the EU seems like a win for both parties. 🎉 🇬🇧🇪🇺
Signing trade deals with major blocks like the US, EU, China, Japan, and Oceana is something the Leave groups were actively begging for, believing it would grow the UK economy, so they too should be glad. Of course, they’ll find something to complain about… they need to keep their followers angry so they’ll get votes at the next election. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czdy3r6q9mgo
@markhburton That’s why I hardly use Bluesky. I like to post links and discuss them. You end up meeting so many interesting people via the replies. I can actually have conversations here on Mastodon, rather than hurl statements or questions at strangers on BS.
@marjolica I think it's getting to the point now where new house buyers are starting to demand it from the developers when buying off-plan. At least, I know we did when viewing a new estate build. The sales rep didn't even have a good reason why it wasn't included when I pointed out that it would only cost the developer £2000 more to add it as an option.
@markhburton I think Bluesky's post length is holding it back in the competition for Twitter's users. They really should extend to 500 characters in line with Mastodon and grab a bigger slice of the social networking pie from Musk's dying company.
Interesting to see some more details of Buffer's limitations. Thanks... I've been sitting on the fence with my credit card. Still can't quite justify that purchase yet.
@markhburton A passivehouse owner can still be a high energy user. If they like to cook or bake, do lots of laundry due to family size, watch lots of streaming TV and play video games, or use high-end computers, their energy usage will be bigger than most.
There are also new battery chemistries coming on sale that are much less problematic for third-world economies and the environment.
In this day and age, there is simple no excuse for not installing #solar, #batteries and a #heatpump when building a new house. I’d go further and say all new houses should meet #passivehouse standard. Our government should put forward legislation to insist upon this. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/may/15/the-guardian-view-on-green-homes-solar-panels-and-heat-pumps-should-be-a-bare-minimum
Private members bill launched to require fossil fuel companies and their shareholders and owners of superyachts and private jets to pay into a fund for flood defences and home insulation.
Might be worth writing to your MP and asking them to support this one
@beardedtechguy Sorry. I mistyped it. Should be: KB5058411
A lot of swearing at the BIOS boot menu and I finally got the computer to see the M.2 SSD again, then six loops through Windows Recovery process to remove recent updates and it’s booting. 😮💨
Something in that update broke boot process.
I hope I never see that #BSoD again! It almost frightened the life out of me.

@beardedtechguy Today’s Windows11 feature update.
The latest #WindowsUpdate just bricked my computer. Think I just lost everything. 🤬
@macrumors Where are Live Captions for British English? I need them to understand people with a Birmingham accent. Currently US English-only beta.
If US press wrote about the US the way they do the rest of the world
There were a few spots of rain. Charlie doesn’t like rain. ☔️ 🙀
A lovely day for a walk into #Bath via Lyncombe Vale.
