The exploration rover, parked in a new position on the delta, casts a strong shadow over the coppery red regolith in the late afternoon sun. The navcam is looking back, over the rover's rear. Behind the rover are low bars of dunes stretching across the image. On the left of the image, the rover's previous tracks trace a careful path around the dunes. The same image but without optical adjustment.

Sol 915: Ingenuity #MarsHelicopter completed this “pop-up flight" number 59, where it flew up to 20m in the air and hovered for ~142 seconds before descending back down. While it was in the air, it took these spectacular images of the Martian surface below.

I look after plant pots and hanging baskets for celebrities, which means I tend to shrub holders with the rich and famous.

had a hangover and lost its orientation for a couple of sols, but it's recovering and will resume normal operation soon.

Also: Solar conjunction is coming in November. 😎

Preview version.

Jezero's western crater wall - lit by early morning light and partially clouded with wind lifted dust - marches across the top of this extremely wide image, broken only in the centre by a wide river valley carved out over millennia by waters flowing into the lake.

Across the middle ground of the image, the former lake shallows and shore are a softly undulating terrain scattered with many boulders, broken rocks, small low-outcrops and patches of flat rock cracked seemingly in the style of crazy paving.

RESULT:

The MCZ_RIGHT camera was looking at Az: 255.743°, Alt: 12.577° at the time of this capture, at UTC: 2023-05-05T18:48:56.

has Phobos at Az: 255.6825°, Alt: 16.4951°, at that time, so it's Phobos, 4° higher in the sky than where the camera was centered at. The star trail on the left is Betelgeuse.

I bought a painting today. I'm not sure what it's of, but I like to think it's that bloke who built the Ark counting the nipples on a cow. My wife hates it, but I've told her there's Noah counting four teats.

Top of image - far away in the distance, Jezero crater's eastern walls rise dimly through the dusty thin atmosphere.
Across the centre of image - rolling waves of rusty red and orange sand ripple out across the bowl of Belva crater.
In the foreground, around the rover here on the western rim of the crater, grey boulders and stones - whole and fragmented - are scattered.
