What’s this?
Oh don’t worry about it. No big. It’s just a snapdragon blooming in Maine.
In December.
This is fine.
#2wordPrompt doctor truth
#vss365 #citizen
Do not abandon me
In my moment of truth
I did not doctor lies
I'm a genuine citizen
Of the united front
But you gotta believe me
We can have bliss
We can have peace
But correction takes admission
#vsspoem #principle
Point of principle
Gently disciple
Friends towards kindness
Yet if they falter
Beyond the altar
Forgive and move on
For they may lie
Cheat and deny
But you keep your morals
Lead by example
Keep it simple
And drop those who cannot comply
#vss365 #tardigrade
"No life forms?"
"Not even a tardigrade."
Sheets looked at me sideways, "You don't have to show off all the time."
"Show off?"
"Yeah, your big brain. I get it, you earned your spot in a man's world."
"I earned my spot in space. If you can't accept that, get off my team."
Across withered field
Frosted grass heavily bows
Snow Queen sends her love
I'm on bluesky! And I'm relaunching my website.
AI will not fill the hole in your humanity.
Solar wind blew dust
Across surface of our moon
Revealing blue glow
Illiterate? Consider this:
All the kids these days
Raised by parents who
Never had Reading Rainbow
And it shows!!
My manuscript is at 28k, so I'm managing my time well.
That means there's plenty of time to join me in writing a #scifi #Haiku for #scifaikusaturday
Prompt word: Wind
I'm still going to write every night after 8 (but not mondays) however I think I will get a spreadsheet word count template and delete my Nanowrimo account.
@ewdocparris In retrospect it was a bad idea to try making a computer out of an actual apple. At first it was all shiny and bright, but after a while the apples had a tendency to decompose.
Nobody wanted a Mushroom Computer.
Well, not until they discovered they were magic mushrooms.
Have you seen a computer on psilocybin?
@ewdocparris
"Turns out, steampunk machinery are the best candidates for the fungal bio-mecha experiments. Their naturally moist environment through conduit makes them ideal for rooting the mushrooms into the mainframe." The man on stage revealed the machine under a protective dome.
"Ugh, let's go. That's so unsustainable." Mal beckoned to Grant.
"But it's fashionable! That green!"
"We don't need one."
"If we keep it domed, it's art; form and function!"
"What function?"
"Humidifier?"
@ewdocparris Welcome to the future. Welcome to Fungal Computing.
Mike inadvertently invented the fungal computer after committing the cardinal sin of eating at his desk and not cleaning up.
When he returned from holiday he was aghast to find his project overrun by mushrooms.
He'd been building a device to go "ping" when he received a social media post, but when he switched it on it immediately started shitposting all by itself.
Apple are expected to announce a truffle version soon.
And on to part 3... part 2 is here: https://aus.social/@rdm/111153208204308882
Even when you are a half-decent mage, and your partner is a shape-shifting dragon there are some things that take time. Especially when you live three quarters of the way up a mountain.
Things like acquiring transportation.
"Gwen, why do we need a cart and a mule?"
"We can't expect the children to slither the whole way, and we can't carry them. And we are not putting this off so long that they get whatever shifting abilities they do get."
Grey hung their head. "I didn't think of that. I should have."
Gwen smiled "That's what you've got me for, dearest. Remember the market place?"
"Oh, please don't remind me! Wait! Why a mule?"
"They are pretty much unflappable. The kids won't bother it, and if you have to shift, it won't bolt like a horse would."
It took a few weeks of searching to find a farmer willing to part with one - even for gold. A good cart and a reliable mule is frequently worth more than mere money, it seemed!
But get one they did, and they finally got under way for the trip back to Gwen's original home.
And her father.

The Outpost II was nearly complete. While Planet Fe was full of ore, it was not full of sustainable life. Supplies had run low and our only recourse was to repair, reinforce, and relaunch with all inhabitants on board. Grav systems were up and running and she was looking magnificent standing. I looked up at the cave that had cradled us for so long, protecting us from the harsh planetary storms wondering if I'd miss it.
General PSA:
Please stop spreading posts that attack teachers! The ones that say "You have my children for 8 hours, and I have them for 4. Don't give them homework. Save the lesson for the next day." They sound innocuous, but you are attacking teachers and telling them how to do their jobs. Guess what? They are the lowest man on the totem pole! They get told what to teach and when. They are not "bad teachers" for giving kids homework. They are covering their own asses!
Go attack the system!
@ewdocparris
This is Glorious Tunafish to base, we are good to go.
Confirm ready for launch. Let's catch those mice!
So, the mice were all leaving Earth, along with those damned tuna stealing dolphins. Something about Vogons, whatever they were.
Well, they wouldn't escape the cats.
Getting the launch vehicle was easy thanks to the plethora of communications satellites being launched. Where the internet goes, so do cats.
And they already knew the answer to the question.
Food.
