I always loved drawing lines and writing words, so I co-founded a design consultancy, Brandient, to do just that, but better.
@caseynewton You are absolutely right. A concept is nothing without its implementation.
@caseynewton Assessing Humane's concept is difficult due to its poor implementation. Let’s stop for a moment and imagine a brilliant implementation scenario. It couldn’t displace the smartphone, but at least it could’ve been fresh fun, iteratively getting even better.
I asked Perplexity why the headline “Instagram adds new 3:4 aspect ratio support in move away from square photos” is newsworthy, considering it seems like a frivolous feature with no real innovation and zero social progress.
The response systematically defended the editorial decision while completely missing the point, just like a human. We may have reached AGI without even realizing it.
OK, it's well past time to start a thread. Welcome to Donald Trump's trade policy. Nobody. Knows. Anything. 1/n
@asymco I’m very curious to know if anyone has used Tesla sales data to predict political party trends and voting outcomes.
People are already discussing the potential for permanent brand damage to Tesla that historically had 80% of its sales made in blue zip codes. Even if Musk were to sleep on factory premises, as he promised, it’s unlikely that this would rectify the kind of damage caused by constantly reminding people of his fascist tendencies and limiting his sales to red zip codes. https://mastodon.social/@asymco/114596533202387474
@bruces It is constantly ahead of schedule for like 5 years now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_predictions_for_autonomous_Tesla_vehicles_by_Elon_Musk?wprov=sfti1

This would resonate particularly well with the devoted fans of the clown-horror genre.
Unusually honest: This is an actual Trump post from today where Trump admits he has been helping Putin since January.
@clive The author insists that silence it’s not fear, but rather calculated behavior, that people exhibit.
As someone who lives in Eastern Europe and has experienced authoritarianism, even totalitarianism, firsthand, I can confirm that fear is the primary political tool that authoritarians learn to employ, and it is highly effective with very few exceptions. What you’re witnessing in your country are the initial experiments in the learning curve of using fear. If it works, it will be more.

I remember the old days when this was simply called corruption.
Looking forward to the book that describes how Trump inner circle hid his decline from the outside world
