I'm a developer by heart and a leader, an Executive Master in IT-Management, BA in Social science and Computer science. Almost every aspect of IT is exciting and something we can use to bring good to the world. Always try to share everything I find interesting; this is how I stay on top of the ever-changing world of technology.
If you have worked in LARGE legacy transformation and modernization, what would you recommend others should do?
Can y'all repost for reach? Thanks! π
Some A Book Apart news: after 14 years and over 60 books, weβve decided to stop publishing new titles. More details about why and what comes next in our post below.
The books will continue to be available through us for a time, and then through our distribution partners after that.

Please don't call it "idiot-proof": there aren't actually very many idiots in the world. Call it "weary-tolerant", as in, "Let's make this software upgrade process weary-tolerant so that people who've woken up at five in the morning to look after a sick kid can get a server back online on the first try." Or "multi-tasking compatible", as in, "Let's make this interface MTC so that people who are trying to put out three fires at once don't bork their installation by using tabs instead of spaces."
The plan is working!
As I watch X openly support Nazis, Google search displaying explicitly incorrect information and misinformation, and the continued march towards a lack of foresight or accountability in tech I must reiterate that technology is and forever will be a political force.

One of the (dumb) arguments against acceptance of transgender people takes disagreement about the definition of βmanβ and βwomanβ as dangerous to a functioning society. Setting aside that this argument depends first upon confusion about the difference between gender and biological sex, the idea that we need to agree one this particular ontological fact is very odd when the people making the argument donβt say the same about other ontological (and metaphysical) disagreements.
π Still on the hunt for my next CTO/VP opportunity! Please reach out if you know of any open positions or want to discuss potential roles. I bring a vast experience in engineering and engineering management to the table. So let's connect, or feel free to share my CV!
