1/3 Capitalism does cause housing crises. In capitalism, housing is often treated as a commodity rather than a fundamental human need. Private property rights allow individuals and corporations to buy up housing units for investment purposes, driving up prices and creating artificial scarcity. Speculation in real estate markets further exacerbates this issue, leading to inflated prices that many people can not afford.

This is a really fantastic but utterly depressing piece about the banality of evil. It’s the story of the 3m scientists who discovered and then covered up the ubiquity and harm of all those fucking #pfas chemicals.
Do you wonder how people compartmentalize #ClimateChange? Or #covid risks? I don’t understand it either, but this is a nice look into the minds of people who saw a huge evil and … looked away. Took the paycheck. Returned to normal.

The single greatest thing that improved #infosec the most has been ransomware.

I'm not joking.

Before ransomware, everyone had completely exposed and open systems to the internet. People's ideas of "being hacked" was that their website would be defaced.

All the real hackers were in memory just letting the systems run while they went through them. Sure SOME hackers would patch the holes behind them, but not many.

It was a free-for-all.

But then ransomware came and automated exploitation and hacked all the easy things... en mass.

So now everything is an egg. A hard outer shell (still breakable... but I gotta tryyyyy.... and I don't wanna!!!) and a gooey inside.

Meh.

Ransomware. Accomplishing what generations of information security practioners couldn't and still can't. Actually improving the security stance of corporate environments world wide.

A note about the request for arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court for Hamas and Israeli leaders...

It includes the point that Israel cut off the #water supplies to Gaza as part of a "plan to use starvation as a method of war and other acts of violence against the Gazan civilian population."

These are violations of Articles 7 and 8 of the Rome Statute.
