My first and second kono woven from Harakeke. The first has dried out, the second was woven today. They are really satisfying to make. #weaving #harakeke #raranga

So that bunch of yarn I got together a while ago became a vest. I’m really quite pleased with it. The pattern is my own and includes vertical bust darts. It’s knit in half-linen stitch with two strands held together. Includes quite a bit of handspun yarn as well.
@Cbfoley it was, but we managed it and we are enjoying our new country.
I finally got around to blocking that skirt. I’m pleased with the solution I came up with thanks to help from friends. Looking forward to finally wearing it once dry.

A bundle of recent handspun yarn. I’m not formally doing the TdF, but I’m aiming to do a bit of spinning every day.
This lot is thicker than I usually spin. I might combine them to make a vest or something.

I’ve had my new job for a month and I think I’ve really lucked out. It is a great place to work so far and my team is a lot of fun. ☺️
I’m sure being a Māori led, majority female and POC workplace has something to do with it.
First day went well. My brain is over full of course but I met lots of cool people and started getting a handle on things.
It was also my kids first day at after school care. Thankfully it sounds like they had a blast.
The main gift my 9yo got for his birthday was a bunch of books. He’s been reading happily ever since. It’s so wonderful that he loves reading. 🥰
My youngest just wrote me the cutest note. It says
“I ❤️ you so mush” 🥰🥰
This is how youngest child is watching. 😅
I did a workshop on spinning flax today. It was my first time trying this and I had a lot of fun (and some frustration). Using a distaff was pretty cool!
I found this book at the tip shop today and it is *hilarious*. Tempted to send it to a mentor of mine who wrote a book on Librarian stereotypes. 😆
Hooray, Craig found the power drill! Today I assembled five small expedit shelves and the dining table. I also unpacked and put away the kids clothes. Hoping to do mine soon (my chest of drawers needs surgery first).
Trucks are here! Getting the piano into the house is the first order of business. Everything else should be easy by comparison.
I have planned ahead and hit two supermarkets today so we are stocked up for the next week at least and can focus on unpacking and putting furniture together. I’ve also pre-ordered Hell pizza for tomorrow night so we don’t need to think about cooking after unloading and unpacking all day.
Now I’m just hoping the weather holds for the unloading of the truck.
Here’s some recent snaps taken while exploring Te Whanganui a Tara. First two are from the Skyline track and surrounds. Third is on Matiu island. Fourth is the very cool electric ferry and charger that brought us back from the island.
