UK folk, please vote in local elections whenever possible. Hereabouts, a Tory (formerly UKIP) County Councillor, elected with a 19 vote majority on a 42.7% turn-out, has been sharing quotes from Enoch Powell on social media, seemingly as valid points for discussion.

I just spent the last two hours debugging the Bluetooth stack *in anger* because for the last few weeks I've had to re-pair my mouse with my laptop. Every time. Remove mouse, re-pair.

Turns out I had two identical mice in my backpack and I've been switching between them.

It was me.

Mum missed me when I left for uni. I sneaked home as a surprise, and jumped out at her and Dad for a laugh. But this was Northern Ireland in 1993, I was dressed in goth black, and Dad was police. The poor guy thought the IRA had come to kill him. Still feel awful about it.

MTG is resigning effective January 5, 2026.

You will NEVER GUESS when she was sworn in.

Migrants didn't cut council funding.
Migrants didn't raise energy bills.
Migrants didn't close community centres.

Know what would help solve Scotland’s problems? Taxing the super-rich and building an affordable country for all.

Stop blaming refugees... for problems caused by billionaires. Scottish Greens.

The tiled edge of an inground swimming pool, with the water in the foreground and the tiled floor in the background. Tiles along the floor surface, which appear upside down in the photo, read 5 feet deep. No diving.
Tiles just above the water level read 5 feep deet.

Very noteworthy how most of these professions are typically female-gendered in US culture.

Also, it completely misses the point that a profession is an occupation REGULATED BY A STATUTORY BODY with specific privileges and responsibilities defined by law."Professional" has been devalued in recent decades by overuse, but do you really want to be treated by an unregulated doctor?

Whatever idiot drafted this guideline is clearly not a member of a regulated profession.

The Roman Empire prospered due to open borders, mass immigration and diversity then fell because of huge wealth inequality and corrupt leadership. I just thought I'd mention it.

PSA to anyone who uses Gmail!

"Reportedly, Google has recently started automatically opting users in to allow Gmail to access all private messages and attachments for training its AI models. This means your emails could be analyzed to improve Google’s AI assistants, like Smart Compose or AI-generated replies. Unless you decide to take action."

“There’s clearly something political about it but nobody knows what it is,” said the restaurant manager.

That's gotta be the dumbest thing I've read all week.

He explained the majority of the people complaining about the artwork are against high levels of immigration and believe the artwork is an attempt to humanise small boat crossings because the people walking across the water have Christmas hats on.

No, wait, THIS is the dumbest thing I've read all week!

I'm still a little miffed that when an actual worldwide pandemic came, the bunker people didn't go into their bunkers

Instead they demanded haircuts and tickets to the cinema

Maths Puzzles for Conspiracy Theorists. One of the cartoons from my new book 'Physics for Cats'. In good bookshops now and online in English, French, German and Spanish editions.

Title: Maths puzzles for conspiracy theorists.

1. A train departs at 2pm Travelling at 40mph. The next train follows an hour later, travelling at 45 mph. Why are we still using trains when the government has hyper-speed ufo technology?

2. Susie brings eighteen Apples and twelve Oranges to school and divides them equally Between her six Friends. How many of these children are in the pay of big fruit?

3. When Tom was eight, his sister, anne, was half his age. Tom is now 48, so why does Anne just laugh at him when he patiently explains to her that the earth is flat?
