Grated metal walkway in bright sunlight.

#BlackAndWhite

The photo is divided roughly into two parts. One part consisting of the lower 2/3 of the frame shows a metal grate with sunlight reflecting off the structure. Dark shadows angle across the grate cast by a fence. The fence separates that grate from another grate, which is very light. The overall effect is of many different sizes of squares.

Vertical photo of a sproingy grass-and-gravel trail that stretches out along the right side of a shiny blue reservoir canal flanked by wood rose bushes, aspen, and willows under a pale blue sky that is softly starting to billow with small clouds. A few shot and tufty cattails stand at the edge nearest us, and towards the horizon, to the left of the footpath and the canal, a matching blue lake opens under the dusky blue foothills. The sun is bright and warm and soaring high.

I really enjoyed this one. Sad, funny. The big sweep of time. Big things happen to people and the story continues anyway.

View from a small hilltop overlooking a valley partially filled with fog. Small groves of trees poke through the fog. A creek meanders through the valley. Early morning sunlight glints off its surface. The sun is blocked by the last remnants of clouds from a storm.

Maybe consider digging a hole in the ground and burying it. :)

@donray
Ha! So many extinctions ago I can barely remember what I paid for it back in the day (say 480 Mya!) and imported from the past! Did the Orange dude put tariffs on the past now , too?

But dang. What a fiasco.

Burning the oak woodland

Yearly planned burn helps restore native plants and animals in an open oak woodland.

Smoke rises from downed branches on the forest floor. To the left, a small tree snag is silhouetted against the smoke. Dark tree branches and trunks cross-cross a light blue sky.

Ha! I remember lilacs blooming in late June near Lake Superior.

Here’s a hepatica for ya from this morning’s dog walk.

Pale purple flowers droop from bendy stems emerging from last year’s leaf litter. In the background, leafless branches against a brilliant blue sky.

Tho beautiful, that snow buries the spring wildflowers for just a little longer. (Sad)

Update to last week’s window picture.

On the alley-side of the building, there’s a planter box where, today, a few tulips are blooming.

Beside the glass block alley-side window of a brick building is a simple planting box made of landscape timbers. In the box a few tulip plants have survived and are beginning to bloom. This orange and yellow tulip is catching some early afternoon sunshine and seems to glow.
