WMan22

I'm WMan (pronounced double-u man), My interests are VR, Linux, Video Games, Music, Anime, Action media, and Quality of Life; Not just quality of life in software, QoL in everything. If you can tell me about something that will uncomplicate things and/or make a facet of everyday life more efficient and painless, I'm interested. I find a lot of that on github these days.

Just watched The Fall Guy

Genuinely, the movie caters heavily to my sensibilities.

I love good stunt work, I love good action, and I love a cheesy wholesome adventure, never expected any of that to go together as nicely as this did since most of the action movies I'm used to watching are miserable (non-derogatory)

I don't think I'm being hyperbolic when I say that the #youtube home page is borderline worthless right now.

It's sending me videos I've already watched from like 5-12 years ago. The newer videos are often clustered around a singular channel or three, suffocating the sense of discovery of new content, especially since it recommends me videos from channels I'm already subbed to.

Can I just go back to getting recommended music please, it was good at that. Or better yet, bring back All Activity

I went back to my Windows partition to quickly test ONE thing to see if it was a thing that could be remedied by doing so and instantly regretted it.

I am trying to go to sleep you absolute fucksticks. I was not consenting to an 18 minute long update I couldn't even see the progress of.

Every time I get the inkling that I'm overreacting to Windows 11 by switching to Linux, I'll hop on over to my dual boot partition, and it feels like the perfume department scene from spongebob.

Glad I never bought anything on epic games, went to go claim a game and hcapatcha won't let me log in even though I was getting the questions right. Tried changing my password via email, wanted a non functional hcaptcha for that too, effectively meaning I can't log into my EGS account.

If I had purchased anything from EGS, this would be a catastrophe on the level of losing the ability to log into steam or GOG, but I knew from the start Epic Games Store was a piece of shit, so I'm chillin.

Why is no documentation better than bad documentation:

With no documentation you know that you don't know anything about the project and can try other methods to understand what is going on in a code base

With bad documentation you are given a false sense of security and are mislead into thinking something is true when it's not and end up wasting time chasing false leads

@ChainchompDX You start with a corner. Just one corner, any corner. fuck everything else.

Apply philosophy to subsequent corners, compartmentalizing each one in waves of activity, don't do it all at once.

No I am not just talking about physically cleaning your room, this is how getting your shit together mentally works too.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is a great game, the hype was warranted. Reminds me of the kind of JRPGs I used to play on Playstation 2, except this one is french, not Japanese. (FRPG?)

Wish it didn't bug out delete my save data with 8.5 hours logged in it. Fuck Unreal Engine 5.

Speaking of Unreal 5, even running the game at native resolution DLSS off, the game feels blurry. I wish there was a way to drag the internal resolution slider above 100% so I can appreciate the game's beautiful art style.

Why did I never think to combine butter grits and honey sesame chicken ramen before? I swear, the shitty ideas you have at 1AM that end up being not shitty at all.

It's like adding a missing touch I didn't even know was missing till today, I'm probably never gonna wanna eat either of these things without combining them again.

Not exactly a Michelin Star healthy meal obviously but you take what you can get when you ain't got a lot of money to go around for expensive groceries.

Happy 28th anniversary to Winamp!

The first version of ⚡Winamp⚡ was released as freeware on April 21st, 1997!

Winamp, it really whips the llama's ass!

For something that is so rolling release and chaotic, I forgot how on arch it's super snappy to just fix or diagnose a problem whenever one arises.

I'm not saying fedora based distros are like, HARD to troubleshoot, or that I need to run arch as a distro when distrobox exists and I can just run arch INSIDE nobara, But the arch wiki is just so damn helpful, and having to put your own software together like legos limits the problem space for issues, making them easier to zero in on and zap away.

Back on vanilla #ArchLinux for the first time in a few years. Figured a reinstall of a distro would be good anyway since I added more RAM to my laptop and it's easier to just nuke it than cut out the swap part. On linux it's easy to get everything I had back with one command anyway.

Nobara Project is still my favorite linux distro but I wanna give it some breathing room in between Fedora 41 and 42. Due to the more manual nature of arch, I was also able to find out why pulseaudio was crackling.

I want to play R.E.P.O. but I don't want to curse it to die off with my purchase because that always tends to happen whenever something is popular and I end up going "You know what, sure. I'll play it."

@calicoday I played a game called HOLE recently, I love it dearly, but a game that looks like that should not run as poorly as it does, yet it does because of Lumen.

Marvel Rivals needs to constantly re-cache shaders and often crashes if you have framegen or lumen on.

Project Borealis that looks great but not 20fps on modern hardware great.

I always get the impression that UE5 games have visuals that do not match the requirements. They look good, but not THAT good.

@calicoday To be clear, when I say "Blurjank" I mean that in order to get a stable framerate on mid range hardware, you *have to* utilize both DLSS and TAA which muddy the image quality so much it often actively harms a game's art direction.

This is a far cry from when MSAA was standard and games were optimized for native resolution, but I understand that what I'm saying is a controversial opinion because forward rendering aint coming back and Nvidia sees fit to limit next gen to 16GB of VRAM.

How many #UnrealEngine 5 games need to come out as unoptimized blurjank before it becomes acceptable to start blaming the engine itself for these incredibly common problems and not the individual game developers for "just not utilizing the tools correctly"?

Lumen is unstable AF. Nanite is not solving real issues with optimization, it's just saving time. I've yet to play a UE5 game with visual quality that feels proportional to what it's asking of my hardware.

Watched a few more episodes of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure after a long enough hiatus to forget how I really felt about the series other than "I really liked it."

Coming back to it now, I forgot how much of a cut above other stuff the stakes feel, and how actually fucked up the characters get trying to survive a stand attack.

They're the main characters, they're gonna be okay, but Jojo always makes you BELIEVE that the villains could kill a protagonist in horrific ways if they make one mistake.

I love cool #RPGMaker games and saw someone I like who understands japanese playing this one

God damn I wish #marikinonline4 had an english translation, this looks neat. #xiaoxiao and #hyunsdojo forever branded a love for rule of cool stickfigure action into my brain.

The latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build pushes users to use Microsoft accounts by removing a bypass script used in the past. However, a new workaround allows offline setup without an account, though Microsoft may soon block it in a future update.
