@epsi The biggest thing for me is the transphobia. That's what I was trying to get away from. It's everywhere over there, and far less prevalent here

@epsi I think those expectations and norms are the difference. I wasn't so much interested in those posts to tell *me* how to post specifically. I was interested in them because ultimately, they were saying "this is the type of post we like here" and given that I was trying to escape a place that was full of shitty people being shitty to each other, those posts were useful for highlighting the differences

@epsi I had a different experience. I came from twitter (last time, not this time) and I was specifically trying to get away from some of the shitty people and behaviour on that site.

The "this is how you fedi" posts were helpful for me, in so far as they told me what sort of space that server was, which made finding a new home less hit and miss

@epsi I think I benefited a lot from, the "this is how fedi works" posts. Not so much the etiquette, but the considerations of how federation impacts the content you see, how to find new followers etc.

@bri_seven My presentation pre transition and post transition are pretty much pragmatic. Binary gendered before and after, but in the "this person gives no fucks about their appearance" binary gender way.

There was a brief flare of caring for the first couple of years of transition, but it didn't last long :p
