I am new to floss.social, but have been enjoying and contributing what I can to FOSS and Linux since the early 90s.

What I love the most is the people I have met along the way from all walks of life.

To me, it is a big part of what makes it all so special.

Hi let me #introduction myself. I just moved here from fosstodon, which was my first instance and home for last 3 years. Thanks for accepting me here @admin.

I'm a programmer, parent, neurodivergent and otherwise typical selfhosting floss enthusiast. This instance seemed like just the place! Also love design, art and craft. Working on my own free/open game which I hope will let me combine all that.

@osuosl has been around for 22 years. They kindly host our gitlab for 6 months now, and provide important services for more than 150 other free and open source software communities such as @alpinelinux, @chimera , @debian, @fdroidorg, @gentoo, @gnome, @LineageOS, #ReplicantOS, @torproject. Now their future is in jeopardy 😢

The Oregon State University Open Source Lab ( #OSUOSL ) might be forced to shut down and terminate all services this year due to a decline in corporate donations

#OSGeo servers, among other Open Source foundation servers, are hosted in the lab's data center.

Can you think of any way to help out ?
