Today we are using the https://dynamicland.org "communal computer" to understand Fibonacci patterns underlying wire weaving with Charlotte Megroureche and https://www.geraldinejones.co.uk #alpaca
Now THIS, this is good news!
The first person to get vaccinated with the world's first malaria vaccine, happened today... :-)))
First out was two years old Daniella in Cameroon, according to the UN's WHO.
Mother Hรฉlรจne says both Daniella and the twin sister will get all four doses and will sleep under mosquito nets.
New epidemiology citizen science game styling is coming along nicely, it also seems to have found its name now - Nergal - after the Mesopotamian god of disease and death ๐
@graywolf in fairness to this one, it at least had a 'this question does not apply to me' option and a note to use that e.g. if someone was in care at the time, which is at least a nod to other realities existing
@graywolf it's equality and diversity monitoring, funders seem to have recently caught on that socioeconomic background is important in terms of who applies/gets funded, but not figured out that it's quite complex
Find myself again staring at this question that's recently appeared on all grant applications: 'Please tell us about the occupation of your main household earner when you were aged 14.'. Like where do people with shit/chaotic upbringings even start with this, all the options are so pure.
Got some nice printed copies of our annual review. If anyone would like a few for their work coffee room let us know and we can post some out, that'd be a big help for us as it's partly how we find new collabs/projects!
@mikka even nicer thing, we are now at the point where we can cure gene mutations thanks to crispr :)
@Ruth_Mottram I can get paywalled papers (๐ elbakyan), just letting you know it was paywalled! If you ever need to check, a really quick way is to open a private tab on a browser and any vpns you have set up for access will stop working, so you'll see the paywalls.
@Ruth_Mottram an archived paywall? :)
@Ruth_Mottram definitely paywalled sadly
(forgive the rubbish pic am wrangling a dog who is extraordinarily stoned on opiates, as you do)
Keeling curve on the vet noticeboard! What a massive change in discourse we've collectively had to get to this point.
It's blue and green season at #OrganisedAtoms microscopic mining corp.

Unusual thing to be excited about maybe, but very happy to be moving our accounting over to the Third Sector Accountancy. First time we've found an accountant that matches our values, and who are totally at ease with using open source software - check them out: https://www.thirdsectoraccountancy.coop/our-vision
Big thanks to @jcalpickard for the tip.
(they only just opened books for new clients, and looks like they still have space to take people on...)
Remember how the sea in 2023 was terrifyingly hot? Like, way hotter than ever recorded?
It's hotter than that now.
Welcome to 2024.
How are you going to resist this year?
@emkingma big congrats if it's yours! I think ours totalled something like 200 quid, it's totally possible :)
Interesting blog from an illustrator on their earnings last year https://www.missmagpiefashionspy.com/blog/2024/1/6/money-talks-earnings-illustration-2023
