Here is an illustration I made as part of my research for my new comic book, the one I’m currently writing. I needed to put the characters into action and see them living together in the world I’m building for my story. :)

#bd #dessin #drawing #course #imaginaire #illustration #comics
This illustration, drawn in black pencil and digitally colored, shows two characters mid-sprint, fleeing from a gigantic creature. The monster is a kind of lizard with blue and green scales and bright orange spikes. Its tongue stretches out eagerly toward the two characters as it crashes through the environment, breaking tree trunks and tearing through the surrounding vegetation. The two characters leap through a vibrant landscape filled with twisted trees, strange mushrooms, and colorful plants. The female character on the left, Nylhne, wears layered, colorful fabrics, while the other wears a striped costume, a mask, and a feathered headdress. The setting is lush, fantastical, and dangerous. This image is part of the visual research for a graphic novel currently in development.

I drew this a while ago, but I hadn’t had the time to share it with you or add it to my shop until now. This is my new small leporello, screen printed in two colors, double-sided, titled Aventures et camouflage. 🥳
It’s entirely handmade.

A huge thank you to Alexis Grasset, who did an amazing job printing the four layers of this edition.

It’s priced at 10 euros + shipping, and available on my online shop here: www.ameliepatin.com/shop

This photo shows a hand holding a small leporello printed in screen printing. On the cover, a two-color illustration in yellow and purple depicts a woman wearing a headdress made of long, flowing feathers. Her face is turned to the left. She holds her hand up and blows into it, releasing an orange smoke from her fingers. Her clothing is decorated with graphic patterns reminiscent of embroidered fabric. The edition is photographed against a white background. This leporello is part of a silkscreen-printed series, available on my online shop.In the foreground of this photograph, one of the leporellos is opened to reveal part of the front side of the edition. It shows a woman with closed eyes, seemingly asleep, her long hair resting on the various patterned cushions around her. To her right, a cat is sleeping. In the background, several other closed leporellos are stacked.Like in the previous photos, a stack of closed leporellos appears in the background. In this photo, the foreground shows the back side of the leporello. On it, there are four portraits of different women, one on each panel of the accordion fold. Still printed in two colors, yellow and purple, each woman wears an imaginary costume. This photograph shows several leporellos arranged more neatly. On the left, there is a stack of closed leporellos. On the right, an open leporello displays the entire front side, depicting the scene with the sleeping woman and the cat, surrounded by cushions with various patterns.

Here’s a little drawing I made not long ago! It’s the first one I did after the positive pregnancy test, and I think it shows 😄🤰
I made it while thinking of Augustine, my cat, with whom I really wanted to experience this moment of connection. Sadly, she passed away before I got pregnant, last February, due to a severe heart condition. She was my best friend, and I miss her dearly 😿

This is a photo of a colored pencil drawing, shown here framed in a small light grey painted wooden frame, placed on a light raw wood surface. On the left, there's a textured blue pot with a plant, and on the right, a carved concrete block. The illustration depicts a woman with bright orange hair, seated in a lush setting. She wears a dress with brightly colored floral patterns and rests her hand on her pregnant belly. A yellow imaginary creature, resembling a small fox with an elongated body, leans in to sniff the woman's belly, much like a companion animal might do. The background is saturated with vegetal and floral patterns in vivid shades of red, green, blue, and orange, creating a dense composition. This image is part of a series of small-format framed illustrations.

After a comic book... a BABY!!
Yes, I’m pregnant, and it’s still early, but I’m already so happy! That said, I’ve been quite sick since the end of March, which explains my absence and low activity lately. But I’m back at it now, with lots of things to share. For example, the new book from Paper - cut, « Du fond de la nuit, brillent les abysses  », written and illustrated by Salomé Michard, which we screen printed and are currently binding by hand!
I’ve also been drawing again and working on a new comic book project, which I’ve written myself this time! :)

It’s a photo of me taken outdoors, wearing a red dress with white polka dots. I’m smiling and proudly showing my baby bump. I’ve just entered my second trimester, so it’s still quite small, but I’m very happy about it.This is a photo of the bookbinding worktable, covered with several copies of the new book from PAPER - CUT editions, of which I’m a founding member. The book is screen printed and hand-bound. In this photo, the covers haven’t been added yet. It’s an indoor photo showing Pépite, my in-laws’ cat, peacefully and heavily sleeping across my outstretched legs. Here’s a photo of my computer screen, showing Photoshop with a drawing in the process of being colored. The illustration shows two characters running to escape a kind of giant lizard that is chasing them.

Hello evreybody,
Here is some other photos from "Comme une fleur", my comic books that came out last week! ^^
It is the second part of the photo!

This post follows last week’s one. In this fifth photo, my hands are holding up pages 58 and 59 of the graphic novel Comme une fleur. This scene features a conversation between seven different characters gathered around a restaurant table, set in a region near Pays de la Loire. This photo shows pages 62 and 63 of the graphic novel. This time, we see Églantine and Violette arriving by car at a beautiful plant nursery and chatting as they walk through its rose garden.ChatGPT a dit :
Here, on pages 64 and 65, we see the two characters leaving the rose garden and finding themselves among dahlias and fuchsias. On the right page, 65, there is a documentary-style panel showcasing alstroemerias, rose bushes, remarkable sedums, and ice plants, along with their describing texts. Now we move on to pages 70 and 71, a little further in the story, featuring a full double-page illustration. Églantine is inside an exhibition greenhouse, marveling at the various flowers around her. There are lupins, pompom dahlias, poppies, and petunias. Through the greenhouse windows, sunflowers can be seen.

Here it is! I’ve been talking about it for so long, and now it’s finally here—my graphic novel "Comme une fleur" is out today, edited by Delcourt! Written by Anne Baraou, it took me three years to bring it to life.
I hope you’ll enjoy it! ❤️

It is the first part of the photos.

This is an outdoor photo where I’m holding my freshly released graphic novel! I went to the Jardin des Plantes in Nantes to take this photo series and took advantage of the beautiful weather to do so. The background is filled with greenery and flowers. In this first photo, I’m showing the cover of my book.In this second photo, I’ve opened the book to show pages 22 and 23 of the story. There is a dialogue between three characters standing under a pergola covered with Black-eyed Susans, morning glories, clematis, and pandoreas. The third photo shows pages 28 and 29 of the story, continuing the dialogue between the three characters under the pergola. The sun is setting. The fourth photo features pages 40 and 41 of the story. A bit further into the narrative, a double-page illustration shows the main character, Églantine, surrounded by a variety of vibrant, colorful flowers.

I’m waiting for the release of « Comme une fleur » (the 19th of march)!
In the meantime, I am working on my next comic project, based on my own universe this time. It requires a lot of work, but I am motivated!! :D

A massive translucent bird rests upon a rolling landscape, its body blending seamlessly with the surrounding nature. Its outstretched wings merge with the terrain, while its plumage, in shades of yellow and blue, appears almost ethereal. Its gaze is concealed by a wide green membrane that partially covers its face.
Around it, a dense forest stretches across the hills, intersected by a winding river reflecting hues of blue and orange. In the sky, a few smaller birds soar in the distance. This winged giant is part of a world where colossal beings, both animal and humanoid, coexist with the natural world, forming an integral part of its balance and harmony. Two characters stand side by side, wearing intricately crafted masks that cover the upper half of their faces. These masks, adorned with organic patterns and finely carved details, are crowned with imposing horns and feature elaborate engravings.
One of them wears a copper-toned mask with yellow horns, complemented by an orange fabric bearing a bird symbol. The other wears a similar mask, but with green horns and a blue fabric decorated with a marine-inspired pattern. Voluminous fringes in bright shades—blue and green for one, purple and blue for the other—flow from beneath their masks, enhancing their distinctive appearance. Their garments are composed of fabric with plant-like motifs and armor pieces with engraved details, evoking a world deeply inspired by nature. This illustration showcases several studies of the heroine from the graphic novel currently in development. The drawings explore different expressions and postures, along with annotations detailing her clothing and accessories. She has wavy green hair and, in one of the portraits, wears blue facial paint, suggesting it is part of her culture.
Her outfit consists of multiple pieces of colorful fabric with varied patterns, wrapped around her waist and torso. She wears a belt equipped with a small pouch and a dagger, as well as bandages wrapped around her arms and legs. Alongside her, a small blue dragon with a salamander-like appearance is depicted. This visual emphasizes her nomadic aesthetic and the diversity of her textile adornments. The drawings are made with black pencils and digitally colorized. This portrait of the heroine depicts her equipped for a long journey. Her large orange coat protects her body and contrasts with the yellow tones of her voluminous backpack, which is decorated with geometric blue patterns and adorned with various accessories. Attached to the bag, a dagger, several small pouches, and sculpted sticks meant for setting up a tent can be seen.
Her expression is both determined and attentive, reflecting her adventurous spirit. The illustration highlights the intricate details of her gear, emphasizing her self-sufficiency and the richness of her visual universe.

Hello everyone,
Here is a color pencil drawing I made for a french storytelling festival.
See you soon! :)

#colorpencils #drawing #illustration #nature #serpent #oiseau #snake #forest #foret #birds
This colored pencil illustration was created for a poster for the storytelling festival in the Territoire de Belfort. The scene takes place at the treetops, revealing a dense canopy of leaves against a background of a sky filled with very light orange-tinged clouds, where foliage, trunks, and branches intertwine. At the center, a massive serpent with yellow and black-rimmed scales slithers through the jungle. Its piercing gaze is turned toward us, while several vibrant birds—including toucans, parrots, and small passerines—rest on its head and back. Three women, dressed in garments with plant-inspired patterns, move alongside it, perched on its body or sitting on a trunk.

This illustration, drawn with black pencils and then digitally colored, depicts Nylhne, a 27-year-old woman, sitting on a moss-covered rock in the middle of nature. Her green hair flows as she extends her hand toward a blue butterfly, while a red owl perched in a tree watches the surroundings. Around her, the vegetation is lush. Giant mushrooms, colorful flowers, and intriguing creatures fill the scene. Her equipment, including a bag, a sword, carved sticks, and a coat, is laid out around her. She wears bandages, covered with fabric pieces adorned with various patterns, sometimes organic, always very colorful. This image is part of a graphic exploration for my currently written comic book.

Hello!
Here is the fourth and last part of the illustrations I did for the children's book "Charlie et le champignon", written by Julieta Cánepa et Pierre Ducrozet and edited by the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturel. 😊

We can see Charlie leaving the Jardin des Plantes after her journey, in which she learned a lot about the cycle of life underground. 🌱🐛🍄🍃

#dessin #drawing #jeunesse #illustration #edition #mushroom #champignon #editionjeunesse #MNHN
After getting back on her feet, Charlie stands before the weeping hornbeam, taking one last look at the cep. She waves goodbye to it, as well as to the underground fauna and flora. Around her, the grass is bathed in pink and orange hues, and the tree's roots extend deep into the soil, echoing the subterranean network she has just left behind.Charlie appears in the foreground, facing us with a smile on her lips. She walks along a path lined with trees in autumnal colors, bathed in shades of pink, yellow, and blue. Her yellow coat stands out against the landscape, while in the background, the silhouettes of other visitors can be seen. Further in the distance, the imposing Cedar of Lebanon from the Jardin des Plantes is visible in blue, mirroring its presence in the photograph behind the book.

Good evening,
here is the third part of the illustrations I did for the children's book "Charlie et le champignon", written by Julieta Cánepa et Pierre Ducrozet and edited by the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturel.

Here, Charlie continues her journey in the underground. 😊 🍄🐟🐜

Tomorrow, the end! 📙

#dessin #drawing #jeunesse #illustration #edition #mushroom #champignon #editionjeunesse #MNHN
Back underground, Charlie slides down an earthy tunnel and witnesses the entire underground life unfolding before her eyes. Roots, mycelium filaments, and insects intertwine and cross paths beneath the soil. Earthworms burrow through the ground, contributing to its aeration and fertility. As she explores, she realizes that every organism, no matter how small, plays a crucial role in this hidden ecosystem, invisible to our eyes.Continuing her slide down the earthy tunnel lined with mycelium, Charlie notices a seed beginning to sprout. Tiny for now, this seed will grow into a tree, providing shelter for other species and producing oxygen. She realizes that what she is witnessing underground is the beginning of a vast cycle. This moment marks an awareness of the importance of soil regeneration and the life that depends on it.Charlie, still tiny, is hidden among the tall pink grasses. From her hiding spot, she watches a giant slug approaching the boletus. A natural predator of mushrooms, the slug intends to eat it.Charlie emerges from her underground journey, now back to her normal size, lying in the grass not far from the Cèpe. The animal drawings from her notebook, projected just beside her head, seem to come to life, breaking free from the page and unfolding around her. Turtles, pandas, bees, fish, and many more appear in a stream of blue-toned illustrations, symbolizing biodiversity reclaiming its place in the world. This moment marks a turning point: what she observed underground—the invisible and interdependent networks—are also the foundations of the living world above.
