As a veteran, I feel it’s important to say every year that no political party or ideology or social class has a monopoly on veterans, and anyone who tries to force veterans into a mold (esp. a conservative nationalistic one) is simply opportunistic and should be ignored.

I saw The Marvels, and you should too.

After multiple mediocre (at best) films & lackluster shows, the question of whether Marvel had forgotten how to put out a really good super-hero story was really starting to loom.

The answer, thank fuck, is no, they haven't.

The Marvels is absolute joy from minute 1. It's action-packed, with great fight scenes instead of CGI DLC. Our heroes are played with real heart & real pathos. Kamala's family *matters* to the story in all kinds of ways, & Iman Vellani is the most perfectly cast super-hero ever. She oozes honest charm & wonder. Captain Marvel is knocked so hard off her pedestal, it makes for real drama & character interrogation/exploration, and Teyonna Paris is **FINALLY** allowed to let go & own the character of Monica Rambeau all the way.

It's probably going to do badly at the box office because it's a movie starring women heroes, & this world is stupid & awful, but PLEASE don't let bad faith reviews by bitter neckbeards cheat you. This flick is a banger. 5/5

And another remember: judging disabled ones based on their their productivity is ableist.

Comparing their productivity with others with the same illnesses is ableist as well.

Everyone lives their disability in a different way. We don't all have the same symptoms, functioning and needs, so comparing is not a good option.

Also, disabilities often have variations depending on many factors, which will alter the way one will be able to do on each day.

Please be comprehensive about this.

We as a country collectively choose to saddle patients with usurious premiums, deductibles, co-pays, and medical bankruptcies, and people to suffer and even die in order to preserve corporate profits. We don’t have to have to settle for the U.S. having a broken health-care non-system, but it means standing up to corporations and the politicians who take their campaign money.

We are told we “have the best health care in the world” and that is just completely untrue. #healthcare #healthinsurance
