We often talk about hallucinations, overconfidence, and unreliable outputs in AI β€” but what if these behaviors aren’t mysterious quirks at all?

In my latest piece, I connect decades of psychological research to what we’re seeing in modern LLMs and autonomous agents. From perceived authority to cognitive overload dynamics, this is about π˜„π—΅π˜† current systems behave the way they do and π—΅π—Όπ˜„ that influences human judgement, trust, and decision-making.

Key themes explored:
β€’ How fluency becomes a proxy for competence
β€’ Why overload produces confident but unreliable responses
β€’ The psychological mechanics behind hallucination and affirmation
β€’ What β€œsynthetic authority” means for safe AI design

If you’re interested in responsible AI, system design, and the human side of automation, this one dives deeper than most.

Let’s rethink uncertainty, authority, and where true competence comes from. πŸ’‘

Most naturist days are peaceful and grounding. This one didn't end that way, and it led to an important conversation.

We’re sharing a real incident, Corin’s perspective, and a practical naturist safety checklist for clothing-optional spaces.

"One of the features of β€œAI” is the diffusion of responsibility…
I don’t want to focus on #Steinberger [#Moltbot #OpenClaw] too much. He’s a random #techbro who wants to impress…Fine. But this is a pattern that the whole β€œ#AIacceptance" movement is establishing that preys on our experience of being able to rely on #opensource projects who take their product, their work & their users’ #safety seriously and invalidates decades of hard work establishing that kind of #trust."

I was washing my French press and noticed it has a sticker on the bottom that says β€œcaution: contents are hot.” I guess the only person who would need that warning is the sort of person who would turn a French press upside down while it’s full of hot water! #safety

I had a thought while trying to give a counterpoint to a creature talking about (their idea of) censorship resistance
The thought being that i think shit ability to moderate a space defacto makes censorship resistance much worse, if your opponent can easily flood your channel with noise and shit to a degree where nobody can really say anything without getting a bucketful of stress every 5 minutes, that makes formulating any long term thought or discussion a no go, then you're effectively censored,
the far right understands as much, its why funding trolls rings and encouraging people to constantly seek out and trouble the vulnerable online occurs, and why "flood the zone" exists as a tactic
This in turn makes building robust moderation tooling and using it without much hesitation not 'just' a question of safety, but also a tool for censorship resistance, running contrary to the notion in some circles how the two are somewhat in opposition
