When the Holy Remoran Empire decided that the Emperor’s younger son would marry the heir of the Duke of uncanny Traventi, Childe Silvia saw Leon-Alexander as a fine man and marriage as preferable to war.

With her Prince dead, Silvia and her 3 young children are trapped at the Emperor’s court far from her homeland, disdained and oppressed by officials who view the Marriage Contract as a cheap tool of conquest while scanting their own promises. The courtiers fear no reprisals for oath-breaking.

For the Elderkin of Traventi, descended from eldritch creatures, Oaths join the Worlds’ foundations and oath-breaking is no safer than breaking rocks at the base of a cliff, inviting cosmic rupture.

The warnings of Silvia’s younger son, the Notary and seer Franz-Karl, become more urgent as Contract breakage and other villainy continues unmended and news of disaster spreads.

Will reforms avert the looming calamity? Or will it all end in tears?

Double negative 🎞️

On clear days, sunlight reflects from windows on houses across the valley, & when the angle is right, it casts shadows on our walls 🌞🪟👤

This lasts for a few minutes, as Earth rotates 🌍

And because the windows subtend a smaller angle than the Sun does, the shadows are sharper than usual #️⃣

In this case, a pair of rooftop windows beamed light at two slightly different angles, making for a twin silhouette 👥

I’ve inverted the intensity for fun 🙃

Five rows and seven columns of black and white keys on a circuit board. If you imagine the rows as guitar strings, the black and white caps are arranged in such a way that a keyboard player finds the black ones where they expect to find them (C and F having white, C# and Bb having black). So you can play the layout of a guitar and have the orientation given by the usual arrangement of black and white piano keys.

The proof copy of Broken Oaths & Boundaries arrived today. The copy looked good, so I have released the paper edition. It should soon be available from most of the usual suspects in addition to the ebook edition that has been out since May 27.

Even though I mostly read ebooks these days, being able to hold a physical copy of my own book somehow makes it feel real.
