I'm really not sure why this is a tricky concept, but I am not the one making extraordinary claims about LLMs—the LLM industry is. They want you to believe that a technology that barely produces correct output enough to be used in business without human oversight is worth trillions of dollars, dedicated power plants, additional heat and carbon output, and a ruination of the internet of human knowledge.

They make these claims without the requisite extraordinary evidence. And yet, somehow, whenever I point out that this technology can't be trusted and these claims not believed, some of y'all leap to defend LLMs' honor.

Please stop drinking the tech industry Kool-Aid.

On this Labor Day, let us remember that it wasn’t the CEOs and billionaires who saved us during COVID-19. It was the janitors, nurses, cleaning crews, grocery and food workers with their hard, often invisible labor.
