AI changed my life to the better, its help is priceless, especially with regard to my studies.

AI helped me creating a learning plan out of a mass of complicated subjects in a jiffie, it explains high concepts and formulas to me and never gets impatient when I don't get it. It even helps me writing flashcards by "translating" incomprehensible passages of the lecture notes.

AI won't steal my job, it helps me to get a good one in the end.

Why did I do this?

I'm pretty sure Mastodon is the first social network I've been on that didn't immediately ask me to betray all of the people in my address book.

@jamesbfg incidentally, I struck up a conversation with Marcus Aurelius using chatGPT. Highly recommended. Medititative++

@jamesbfg I would have them journey with us to the past and commune with our greatest thinkers but it occurs to me that much of CBT has already packaged the good bits for them.

2023-03-15

@jamesbfg that’s little ‘s’ stoic. Big ‘S’ Stoic helps one optimize one’s potential in delightful ways that prioritize Justice, Temperance, Courage, and Wisdom. Sure. If we can’t control it there’s a stiff upper lip - but it won’t be a maladaptive journey to Spockhood.

The hardest thing about being an autodidact is the impostor syndrome. There's a wealth of information out there, and sometimes I feel paralyzed by all the massive traditions and ideas. How do I know for sure I read enough to have a definite answer on this or that subject ? What am I missing? The only way I found is to dare and have an incomplete opinion, but leave it always open to be challenged. That balance is tricky to maintain.

@garry They don’t think carrying capacity be like it is but it do.

@caycepollard My exception for most all of the critical reception has been the conceit that AI is some kind of replacement. All of my own use cases are predicated entirely on augmenting efforts. The observer remains the observer. The AI is just another subregion of self - I map it next to, “hammer”.
