@rrlevering @alda I had a look at developers.google.com/search/d and it makes clear that books can be borrowed, read etc.

It does btw have a 403 link to actions.google.com/tools/feed- which it maybe attempts to explain as "Note: The successful use of this feature, along with the interest form you must use to submit your feed, is limited to partners." but having such a prominent link to a secret tool is still a bit weird.

@alda which document?

The approach to validation at Google got better over time, by making markup requirements more scoped to some target feature/service. @rrlevering is a good contact there (I left last year).

From a schema.org perspective Books are things you can read, intend to read, write, buy, sell, use to prop up wobbly tables, give, ... absolutely we'd never try to enumerate all the verbs and actions for all kinds of things!

(Sorry for slow response)

The Data Shapes Working Group has published SHACL 1.2 Core and SHACL 1.2 SPARQL Extensions as First Public Working Drafts.

SHACL is a language for validating RDF graphs against a set of conditions.

The mission of the Data Shapes Working Group is to update data shapes standards in line with the versions of core Semantic Web standards that cater for RDF-star and to extend the applications of data shapes with new packaging and use specifications.

Fortunately I am fully recovered from a serious homeops infection, but my younger self would be reporting this post to the police.

A screenshot of a reddit post. Highlighted is the text:

"Hey guys, just finished my basic home automation setup", and then you post a system diagram that looks like the blueprint for a nuclear reactor. Fourteen Docker containers just to manage a suite of 'internet of things connected shitware.

@ramsey @carnage4life
For this in particular: unions have successfully stopped return to office mandates for their members. NYTimes tech union is one example.

Tech workers used to say they didn’t need unions because they were so well paid. Now employers are taking that reason away.

Code-cwa.org has been organizing tech workers.

@brucelawson I like this idea, but how many mastodon instances have censored other instances just because they have different views/opinions? There is much to do to make Mastodon better, and being able to block instances and segregate off sections of the fediverse goes against all that.

"Mastodon was founded on the principles that people should be able to control their social circle online, curate their own timeline, and convene freely with any community of their choosing. We believe social media should help users build bridges, not walls. And we believe this is best achieved through federation."

So many instances have put up walls to segregate off other sections of the fediverse. This needs to change or it will just go the same way as any other censored social media imho.

I've written about the new rules from Ofcom and what they mean for small website owners.

I've tried to be reasonable in my interpretation and my criticism. Feedback welcome!

I'm really proud to present my fully documented source code for Elite on the Commodore 64.

This is the original 1985 source, recently released by Ian Bell, with every single line of code explained.

It’s a thing of beauty. Enjoy!

My friend Nick makes his own advent calendar each year.

He may be a genius.

Four boxes of Tunnocks Tea Cakes, laid next to each other 2x2 on a table. Each box (which are yellow with red print, and a clear plastic viewing window) holds 6 tea cakes wrapped in foil. Handwritten labels have been stuck on the boxes above each cake, with the numbers 2-24 in a random order. There was a number 1 but that has been cut out already - a knife and a teacake are sitting on the table above the boxes.

Hey everyone!

My wife and I just moved from the US to Germany and my wife is looking for work. She's a certified Technical Project Manager with decades of experience in project/product management as well as Chief of Staff related roles. In her last job she created a PMO for a city government.

She's looking for remote work in Europe or the US East Coast, or on-site work near Tübingen, Germany.

Thanks and boosts are appreciated!

“Large language models and the path to our higher self”

I agreem with Alison Gopnik that LLMs can be seen as cultural tools to augment rather than replace human intellect. This article also makes that case
