Software Developer at Red Hat.šŸ“toronto, šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦. All views and opinions are my own.

With the ongoing #Eclipse infra outage, I'm slowly losing it since I can't work on JDT. So, I've turned to picking away at #XML and #YAML language server bugs, since that doesn't really rely on Eclipse infra. Pretty productive week so far...

#toronto Random acts of bread.

A subway concourse in Toronto. A hand sanitizer dispenser sits next to a large column covered in a blue and black tile mosaic. A loaf of sourdough bread is left on the hand sanitizer.

Woke up. Not sure why.
Didn’t set an alarm. Didn’t need one.
Just opened my eyes and said okay. I guess.

Put on jeans. Black shirt. Same socks from yesterday. Probably.
No breakfast. No coffee. No hunger. Just the ritual of skipping it.

Went outside. Didn’t lock the door.
Don’t even know why I used to.
The kind of neighbourhood where no one steals, they just borrow forever.

Took the long way. Not for the view. Just didn’t want to pass the guy who always smiles.
Not in the mood to be perceived.

Crossed three streets without looking.
Not to die.
Just didn’t care enough to check.
It’s different.

Walked into Shoppers. Bought toothpaste and a lighter.
Don’t smoke. Not anymore.
But something about buying a lighter makes the day feel more functional.
Like maybe I’ll use it.
For something. Eventually.

Passed a dog tied to a bench.
He looked at me. I didn’t look back.
Not out of cruelty. Just didn’t want to be understood.

Stood in front of a vending machine for seven minutes.
Didn’t buy anything.
Read all the labels like they were instructions for life.
None of them applied.

Took a bus I didn’t need to take.
Just sat near the back.
Watched buildings go by like static on an old TV.
Got off six stops later.
No reason.

Saw a guy arguing with a parking meter.
Not metaphorically.
Just. Actual guy. Actual meter. Actual yelling.
Didn’t stop. Didn’t judge. Just noticed.

Ate a sandwich from a 7 Eleven.
It tasted like time wasted.

Walked into the afternoon like it owed me something.
Shoulders squared. Jaw set.
Every step a threat I didn’t follow through on.

Held a coffee like a weapon.
Didn’t drink it. Just clenched.
Heat bleeding through the cup, into the palm, into the bone.

Then someone said my name.
Not a shout. Just casual. Like they knew me.
I didn’t turn around.
Just stood there.
Still.

Waited until they gave up.
Walked the other way.
Faster than before.

Didn’t check who it was.
Didn’t want to know.
Just knew that if I saw their face, something would split.

Just released vscode-xml 0.28.1 to fix some annoying bugs with auto-indent and range formatting.
#xml #vscode

Yesterday, I released vscode-schematron 0.2.0, with the main features being validating Schematron against the Schematron schemas (github.com/Schematron/schema) and handling error ranges for broken or missing schemas better.
#vscode #xml #schematron

Been working on my schematron side project
So much that I just added scheese to my shopping list

Just released vscode-xml 0.28.0! It's mostly bug fixes. Changelog: github.com/redhat-developer/vs

Published a #Schematron #XML validation #VSCode extension. Not official or anything, just a proof-of-concept side project. I'd love some feedback if folks are interested.

#HNOM !

(Only moderate booing and everyone seems cheerful about it.)

I added my video game Kanban to my webbed site, so if you are curious what I'm playing it's there: datho7561.dev/video-game-kanban (this board is mostly for games with a clear endpoint, not stuff like Minecraft and Stardew Valley)

HOLD UP HOLD UP WHAT

Might as well just try it out, it's not like my Eclipse installation could possibly be more broken. I'll report back on if it's worth it.

Has anyone who uses #Eclipse tried/regularily uses Vrapper? What's it like, is it worth installing? I really like #vim (or neovim or helix) but I often shy away from using emulation of vim keybindings in IDEs.

We've been working on making it possible to use javac as the compiler for #VSCode #java and #Eclipse JDT. Check out this blog post to learn more about it:
