I sometimes wish that people who didn't enjoy a book were more vocal about it.

Often I'll read a book and nearly everyone will be saying how amazing it is, whilst I can't see what they're getting at and think it's boring, badly written etc. (e.g. This Is How You Lose the Time War, All Systems Red). Particularly on GoodReads, most people seem to be positive about books.

I guess it's easier to write a review about a book you liked than one you hated?

@pwaring I find it's easier to pick apart a book I didn't like than to find creative ways to say a book is awesome without sounding repetitive. Usually, books I enjoy have similar qualities. I can only find so many ways to say "kept me engaged." And yet, I try not to leave too many negative reviews b/c I don't want to seem like a hater.

I recently saw two people discussing a truly terrible book, one with the intention to read it, and I didn't feel comfortable jumping into that convo uninvited.

This lovely #RAOK note left on my car at the train station the other day. At first I thought it was a parking ticket, but I paid my $2 for the day and cops don't use pink envelopes.

Plantain Biscuits & Gravy: I love traditional BAG and wasn't sure what to expect, but took a chance based on the server's strong rec. She didn't steer me wrong.

Watched the trailer for The Long Walk, a story I love and know well. I think the movie will be great.
