Yesterday I tried out a DE-0113 #POTA spot near to my QTH close to the #Schlei inlet expecting a cozy late shift activation using an FT-857 and an SG-237 with few radials tuning ca. 19.5m of wire mounted inv-v via carbon mast.

... ended up in a nice SSB #pileup on 40m. Thanks folks for 30 QSOs in only 30 minutes. 😅

I went for a not so early morning POTA activation of DE-0741 "Geltinger Birk Nature Reserve" this morning. Cloudy WX on my way to the POTA spot but sunny when the wire antenna was set up and I started calling CQ in CW on the 40m band.

Unfortunately the small 7Ah battery wasn't on full capacity, so I only got 11 CW + 2 SSB contacts into the log before the TRX switched off suddently. 😅 #pota #activation #cw

@F4LUB 2/2 If you wanna use this setup seriously on vhf/uhf, you'll need a low pass for each band. only ~20dB rejection is enough as it (mine) alredy does 48dB rejection of harmonics on 2m and 43dB on 70cm.

@F4LUB 1/2 ... in contrast to my last shown clip, this variant is very simple: Just flash the CEC firmware from https://github.com/phdlee/uvk5cec/releases, plug a usual cw paddle via 3,5mm connector into the fitting one on the device then open menu and change mode to cw and have fun. Many parameters are adjustable via menu: wpm, iambic a/b, tone pitch, mem keys etc.

That 3d printed cheap mini paddle shown in the video clip is available on eBay and Aliexpress. I'll try to put left peaces in my bag coming to 38c3.

@asciijungle no, lack of working 3D printer I ordered in china for ~6 EUR/each. Bought 6 peaces extra, so you can have one at Glühwein-POTA or at OV/Station-Abend etc.

Visually spectacular "sculpted" supercell thunderstorm near Woodrow on high plains of eastern Colorado earlier today (6/8/24). This storm featured a blue-green & ground-scraping shelf cloud (& dust storm beneath) so wide I could not fully capture even with wide angle lens! #COwx
