It has been a privilege to engage with ecology students and faculty members again at NUBiP in Kyiv 🇺🇦. Over the past week, I have learned so much from their experiences and knowledge.
Sadly, two students from the department, Yurii & Gregory, are no longer with us. May They rest in peace

@i_ngli @KAEEGoetheUni I am teaching a course on Science and Society at the Open University of Catalonia during this semester. And by the way, the 'How to talk about 'nature'?' during the winter semester was awarded the Lehrpreis 2023 at the BTU.
@i_ngli @KAEEGoetheUni Have a good start of the semester, Ingmar!
Grateful for lecturing at NUBiP in Kyiv last month. Also, I collaborated with Ukrainian colleagues for three weeks on liberated areas flooded in the context of hydraulic warfare 🇺🇦
Eventually managed to read #AyselSultan's @sts review in @sts_journal of Prasad Amit's (2023) #ScienceStudies Meets #Colonialism. Very helpful for my take on #STS as the review discusses how the book critically discusses #ANT #ActorNetworkTheory and #PostColonialSTS https://sciencetechnologystudies.journal.fi/article/view/136097
Tip of the Day!
Here is a reminder to everyone [rightly] pissed at the incredibly high cost of peer-reviewed journal articles behind paywalls:
If you send an email to the lead/corresponding author (whose contact is almost always provided in the article, or easily found with google) and ask for a copy of the article, the author will almost universally be delighted to send a copy [legally] to you, free.
We authors LOVE it when someone asks for a copy of our articles!!!
I rant a lot about peer review. Well now we have a team doing something about it. We're designing and building infrastructure to enable sustainable peer review. Follow along:

I'm excited to share, with amazing collaborators Theodora Dryer & Amrah Salomón, the Water Justice and Technology Project, a gathering place for research, stories, art, and calls to action that confront the intersection of water justice and tech. #envhum

Working in Ukraine🇺🇦, and among other things, I visited the wonderful open-air classrooms at the NUBiP in Kyiv.
Visited a #ClimateChange communication expo today in Berlin. Positively surprised by the Niklas Luhmann quote (sociology plays a very important role in Germany). I made a call to someone living in 2045.
Next week, I will be presenting a talk on non-human animals amidst adversity in conflicts and wars (with a focus on Costa Rica and Ukraine) 🦦🐺🦨 during the 4th Padua Summer School 🇮🇹 #EnvironmentalHumanities #AnimalStudies
"I once read that buying books represents the illusion of buying the time needed to read them. That sounds about right."
Very sad news: Evelyn Fox Keller has passed away. She was a remarkable person and a very influential scholar. In her illustrious career she made important contributions to history and philosophy of biology and feminist philosophy of science. RIP.
