I think Mastodon is rising to be my preferred social media place after some experimenting. Wondering how it is settling out for others? And why, if you'd care to share.

Haven't posted here for ages, but going to give it another go. Any tips for enjoying life on here and making connections? #newbie #newbieagain #SocialMediaTips #mastodontipsandtricks #sayinghello

And photo 3 of #photooftheweek is of yesterday's #64MillionArtists #TheJanuaryChallenge 10 minute task: make some #art with objects found near you. This is my water glass and coaster offering. #play #creativity #foundobjects #fun #January #photography

Photo 2 is of 4 faces drawn by me and some of my adult workshop participants this week in a creative workshop in #Blackpool. The #64MillionArtists #TheJanuaryChallenge task was to give an everyday object a face. Here, we gave a face to an armchair (Armchair Gran), a water drip (Avatar Mermaid), a lion puppet (Alfred the Lion) and a broken Christmas light. We also gave them new year resolutions. My favourite was 'Roar More!'. I may do so. #play #faces #photographymaster

#PhotoOfTheWeek All 3 of my photos this week (*my self-imposed 3 a week) are from my contributions to the #64MillionArtists #TheJanuaryChallenge - short (10 minute) #creative prompts for every day of #January. The first one is from a day where the prompt suggested a focus on #hands. I was lucky enough to have a #toddler to photograph. #photography #play #baby

Do you know modern plays based on Ancient Greek/Roman theatre that deal at any level with the history of black diaspora and/or are set in colonial or post-colonial contexts?

I've been writing about Pecong, by Steve Carter, a play based on Medea which is set in the Caribbean and has many Afro-Caribbean elements such as music, religion and society. Since then I've been interested in other plays that deal with similar questions, such as "The Darker Face of the Earth", by Rita Dove, "Odale's Choice", by Kamau Brathwaite, and "The Bacchae of Euripides: A Communion Rite", by Wole Soyinka.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My 2022 temperature blanket is done.*

365 days
2 rows a day
730 rows**
360 stitches per row
262,800 stitches**
Roughly 20 minutes per row
Approximately 250 hours of knitting
Temperatures from -5ºC - 35ºC
19 colours of yarn

And impossible to photograph all in one go, because it's BIG - roughly 6ft wide and over 6ft in length.

* Though I'm probably going to add a crochet border.

** Not including cast on / off and setup rows.

Eta - Thanks everyone for all the comments, favourites and boosts.

I may not be able to do some of what my neurotypical friends and family can... but I can create my art :) I started my aerial embroidery journey 3.5 years ago and love it more every day! Do you create art? What kind? #autism #ActuallyAutistic #neurodivergent

#PhotoOfTheWeek 2. Have loved having some time to relax and colour over the past few days sometimes with the help of 6 year old twins. These #bells come from an adult colouring book and are actually upside down #mushrooms!

This photo (these photos) is (are) from June, but I've only just received them. They are from my mum's housewarming when both my cousins and I were together. V rare as one of us (on the left) now lives in Australia. We've had photos of the 3 of us taken for as long as I can remember (and I'm the eldest- so it's their whole lives). In this case, it's the outtake I love best. #cousins #laughter #outtakes #family #photography
