@HaruEb @ahimsa_pdx made me think of the whole Wildlife from the Window movement that suddenly appeared during covid lockdown. People who had never considered how it could be to not leave home everyday, discovering a world outside their window they'd never noticed before. It was a revelation to many! We taught people about daily migrations in cities - in London the (escaped, naturalising) parakeets hurtle over rooftops the same time everyday

@handmade_ghost @sphakos we get the same with Grey Heron here in UK. A big tree over hanging a lake or river will host Herons every spring/summer for decades and decades. This tree right by the Thames is around 150 years old and bet you it's had a Heronry for at least 50 of those

@gamergull there is only one place I know of in the world they (semi regularly) appear in the same location... On the Azores. In the middle of the Atlantic. GBH +Grey caught in winds arrive there. I've only ever seen one photo with a GBH and Grey side by side.

This is a recording of the parent and baby egrets up on the mountainside trail where I often take photographs of them nesting in the trees. The recording quality is not awesome, but it should give an idea of what raucous, possessed creatures they are. Dancers in the breeze, demons in the trees.
