"if u ignore stupid, he'll go away, just don't react, don't give him the satisfaction" -- exasperated Golden Tanager

A photo of two Golden Tanagers on a branch. The bird in front and to the right is in focus and all posed nicely for the photo. However, the bird in back and to the left is obviously showing off by standing tall and flapping wings to blur the image and spoil the photo! Dona Dora, CO. Nov 2025. Photo by Peachfront

Raoul stopped by! His mate was finally spotted the other day; I’ll post her picture. I think I’m naming her Manuela.

Finally went out to a real hotspot today. There was so much icy snow on the trail. I made an extra trek back to the car to ditch the scope & camera, then I didn't get very far. On the reservoir were about 2,000 Canada Geese, five Tundra Swan, a few odd ducks, a Horned Grebe, and 50 Canvasback (for which I had to write comments due to the large number???)

Flight Past the Shark Shack

We were in Galveston, Texas a while back, and I found myself standing on a corner watching gulls swoop and glide through the sky. Naturally, I had my camera ready. I caught this laughing gull (Leucophaeus atricilla) soaring down the street, just about to cross through the intersection. As it passed overhead, it happened to fly right by a restaurant called The Shark Shack.

Step into a world where even the smallest moments—like the glint in a bird's eye—tell their own story.

"The image captures a laughing gull in mid-flight, its wings fully extended in a graceful arc. The bird’s body is streamlined, with its head slightly tilted forward and its black hood sharply contrasting against the white underparts and gray wings. Its beak, slender and slightly curved, points ahead like a compass needle. The gull’s flight feels deliberate and buoyant, suspended in a moment of motion that’s both powerful and serene.

Behind the gull, the backdrop shifts to human terrain—a building with bold signage reading “SHARK SHACK BEACH BAR & GRILL.” The words “seafood + burger + beer” and “HAPPY HOUR 3–6PM DAILY” add a splash of casual coastal energy. The signage is slightly blurred, emphasizing the gull’s crisp silhouette and drawing attention to the contrast between wild flight and built environment. The photo credit, “Swede’s Photographs,” anchors the image in authorship, but the gull remains the sovereign subject—aloof, airborne, and unbothered by the buzz below." - Microsoft Copilot

Not all journeys leave footprints. Some leave feathers, echoes, and a soft change in the air.

Two ordinary browny-gray birbs sit on a branch in a dark forest. Zooming in on the bird on the front left, you see little floofs of downy new feathers. The sleeker adult is on the back. She has been going back and forth to the feeder for hours to feed this cutie. Black-billed Thrush young and adult. Dona Dora, CO. Nov 2025. Photo by Peachfront.

Was ist das für ein Projekt?
Hast Du einen Link?

Jetzt also doch.
