@ami 😂
wow, what a banger... https://neoncityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/timeless
@ArchusByte same here! :tinking: (thank you!)
@mntmn well, this is one of the reasons i am not super happy about deepening dependency of gnome on systemd (i am not ranting here about systemd btw). as far as my understanding/memory goes, gnome project is pushing for such "unification" since longer time.
oh boy, what a day. i was wondering if rc low-pass filter i've improvised for pwm to dc conversion, on decade boxes is causing nasty ripples, or it was an expected filtering outcome. to make it harder, i redid it on smd components (also: baby's first filter!), and output is quite clean. 100% would do it again! #diy #electronics
i've just learned that @pine64 provides schematics for its awesome pencil soldering iron (by far my favorite): https://pine64.org/documentation/Pinecil/_full/#schematics_and_datasheets
i am so doped!
@fmn Hey there! Feel free to check out the upload and automated calculation features, at aisler.net . Until 31 January, you can use the code WELCOME2026 once per account to receive a €10 discount. :)
uh oh. #pcbway stopped to accept sensible payment methods (at least for me; reached out to support, so let's see), and #jlcpcb is failing automated quoting. i guess it's a good moment to do a new round to see what's the current state of low volume #pcb manufacturing in europe. if you folks have any experience or hints to share i would really appreciate it! #diy #electronics.
Bose open-sources its SoundTouch home theater smart speakers ahead of EoL
If companies insist on bricking gadgets, this is a better way to do it.

in a way, i am sorry i post about random junk i get. however... it often inspires me to hack something together when i play with it. or it's around when i need it. and sometimes it's just fun and hard to resist! #diy #electronics
@psf very elegant. most of the stuff said about the craft, often falls apart when you change an angle a bit. this just feels right. as a side note, i also appreciate how dave thomas (of "the pragmatic programmer" fame) writes, talks about software.
@mntmn very nice stack! (just as a curiosity: swapped nginx and certbot for caddy and i would recommend it also)
i have a headache, but after some long hours it finally works as expected. it was a combination of:
- multiple cold solders.
- usb hub chip partially burned (#ch334u), multiple times, in three different ways by inrush current.
- bad pin assingment.
- wonky setup with breadboards and jumper wires causing issues even with low speed usb2...
(all of that can be reduced to my incompetence, sure!)
lovely #kicad project by #adafruit helped a lot, as a point of reference. #diy #electronics.
@andrewrk, thanks! in that case, hopefully it's "just" a matter of time 🤞
