@gadgetry Future of #hardware for #AI is not in unifying GPUs, but in completely new computing architecture, where multiplication units are next to small memory units and cache is not required for massive #parallel computations.
There are a few companies already at the forefront of this paradigm shift.
Nvidia Unveils New “Revolutionary” AI Tech
Nvidia has just unveiled its next-generation Blackwell-Ultra architecture, designed specifically to solve the AI energy crisis. By doubling processing speed while cutting power consumption in half, this "revolutionary" hardware aims to prevent the grid failures currently threatening global data centers.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 is Lenovo’s Most Repairable Ultraportable Yet
@aurynn It's stupid and arguably environmentally irresponsible, but I have thought about making a "subliminal feedback box" that attaches to my modern, (entirely silent and mysterious) computer, and contains a clicky hard drive, a bunch of flickering LEDs, some gently whooshing fans, and maybe some HV coils that can be charged/quenched based on what the computer is doing. So that I can tell when something's gone wrong from across the room again, like the Universe intended.
