RFK Jr.’s version of a high fiber diet.
I went to a talk lately that was mostly about something else, but the speaker came out with:
“If you only remember one thing from this talk, remember this. Everyone in this room who likes helping people, raise your hand.”
Every hand, or nearly every hand, went up.
“If you like asking other people for help, keep your hand up.”
Almost every hand went back down.
“As you can see, people like helping you. When you ask for help, you’re making them feel good, even if you don’t like asking.”
I’ve genuinely forgotten the rest of the presentation but I won’t forget that.
Folks, we are the Fediverse. We don't have big advertising or marketing budgets. Just great social media applications that communicate with each other across a big beautiful truly decentralized ActivityPub powered network. No ads. No algorithms. No data harvesting. Build for people by people.

Great job @_elena!
My strategy for using monads in Ruby is mostly "don't", but I do love to use the result monad from dry-monads when I need a result object. https://dry-rb.org/gems/dry-monads/1.3/result/

This is the term we must use now, yes.
The trick to domestic oven pizza is to cook it without the cheese. Then add the cheese for the final moments.
I'm getting better at making the dough, after years of trial and error.
This one has artichoke, and a little bit of very hot dried birdseye chillis, and a sprinkling of pink onion.
12 June 1929 | A German Jewish girl, Anne Frank, was born in Frankfurt.
In 1942 on her 13th birthday she received an empty diary. She perished in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.

A Mexican-American friend who lives here on a Green Card and is the mother of five US citizens, including a US Army Vet and an LAPD officer, just collapsed into my arms crying, saying that she no longer drives on the freeway because she's afraid of being stopped by ICE and kidnapped.
Across the world, right now, billionaires, oligarchs, and corporations are using their wealth to silence dissent, undo decades of social and environmental progress, and manipulate the game in their favour.
It's #TimeToResist the billionaire takeover.

AI is massively accelerating environmental crisis
AI Boom Drives 150% Surge in Indirect Emissions at Major Tech Firms, UN Warns
Amazon’s emissions spiked the most—up 182%—with Microsoft, Meta, and Alphabet also posting triple-digit growth.
Without aggressive intervention, AI-linked emissions could reach 102.6M metric tons of CO₂e annually, straining energy grids globally.

I’m loath to share interviews with myself, but I really had a wonderful time sitting down with Ellen McGirt over at Design Observer. We spoke about my (too short) time at 18F, about responsive design turning 15, and about the urgent need for collective action — and, yes, unions — in tech.
You listen to (or read! yay transcripts!) the interview here: https://designobserver.com/compassionate-design-career-advice-and-leaving-18f-with-designer-ethan-marcotte/
