One person's journalist is another's hacktivist. Even if the hacktivity is admirable Proton is likely to block accounts doing verified illegal activity. Even so, it sounds like they don't lock all parts of the account. (Ie they were using Proton pass) unless they suspect the account was stolen from someone. I'm not saying what proton is "good". But it's what can be expected.

Tough day in #fediverse. OVH cloud is causing issues for some #mastodon and #pixelfed sites. There's a verify your email mastodon scam causing admins to watch for compromised spam accounts and apparently #matrix main server is in the middle of a multi hour database restore. Reminder stay spread out.

So far I've refused to get a threads account. But it has been nice to be able to interact with my friends that are there. Glad someone's keeping track of how well, (or not) threads is mingling with the rest of the Fediverse.
