The #Internet used to feel like a university, loads of different rooms with experts discussing topics and sharing information, and then you had the student bar to hangout and chat to others in a more fun way.

These days it's like walking through a bazaar with winding passages, everyone handing you leaflets or asking you to buy things with faux smiles and trying to pick your pockets when you get overwhelmed with the noise.

The current #gpu situation is a joke, I do not understand why no tech reviewers are talking about the #amd 9070 pricing compared to the 7800 pricing.

The 9070 is basically the 7800 of this generation, that should be about £500 or less. Don't get me wrong its a good generational leap but its a mid range card commanding enthusiast pricing at the moment.

Because #nvidia hasnt provided any generational uplift we seem to have forgotten the 9070 is a mid range card, and should be priced as such.

Has anyone got any metrics on underclocking/power limiting the new #amd #9070xt so its closer to the #9070

A lot of 3rd party reviews are indicating the 9070 is one of the most efficient cards to date, but its just a binned 9070XT so surely if the 9070XT was to be power limited a bit more it could potentially provide far better efficiencies.

It feels like it was overclocked to be a 5070ti competitor rather than remain at 280w which was where I think it originally was meant to be.

A lot of people are sad that #amd is only targetting low to mid tier #gpu with #rdna4 but it got me thinking.

Given they are really investing into chiplet based #gpus which will require lots of work on interconnection technology I wonder if they could revisit older sli/crossfire style tech with these advancements.

This way they don't need to compete in the enthusiast tier gpu market, they can just sell multiple mid tier cards to consumers, meaning more products sold and bigger profit.

Went on a rant earlier on stream about how genre defining game series are now just action-esque husks of their former selves.

I get the games have more mass market appeal, but as the games are for everyone they may as well be for no-one at the same time.

#SurvivalHorror games really sadden me though as nothing hits the same way that the original #ResidentEvil games (and RE:RE) did.

I really hope we get an #android #xr device soon to rival the #apple #visionpro. The AVP looks great but I'm not a fan of the Apple eco system.

I know xr and vr is fairy uninteresting to most, but I'm really looking forward to no longer needing monitors/tv/phone and just having some glasses that do it all. That's probably 20 years or so away at this point though.

One of the libs we use heavily uses extension methods to provide pseudo-getter/setters on custom dictionaries, with the new c# 13 extension type features they could become ACTUAL properties but then the discussion was raised if we should do more of this, but the debugging experience could become a nightmare if none of this information is available.

Does anyone working on #Rider or #VisualStudio know if the new csharp 13 Extension Types features will show up in debug inspectors?

For example if I add an implicit extension property to a class, then inspect an instance of the class while debugging, will it automatically show me the extension properties along with the regular properties? or will we need to manually watch them if we want to see the values?

Has #capcom lost the plot?

I could understand their stance on cheats if they were talking in the context of online multiplayer games, but really only competitive ones would matter.

For them to go hard-line on cheats on SINGLE PLAYER games I fear they have put someone silly in charge somewhere.

If anything I want the opposite #BringBackBigHeadMode and all the other great cheats from the older games, let's embrace making games more quirky and fun.

Watching #Pokemon Horizons and it honestly feels like if #Firefly was made with a pokemon setting.

We have the people in suits chasing a girl with a power no one knows about on a ship with a rag tag bunch. Such as the confident captain, the sassy engineer, the old man who must have a tragic backstory.

It really feels like #Blizzard is in free fall, yesterday I tried their #Diablo4 #FreeWeekend which just ended up being a demo that they could have just let you play any time.

The game itself was ok but it felt like 1 step forward but 2 steps back.

@nxadm yeah, it's a great machine for the price, even better value than laptops in the same price range.

Its a bit of an odd time in gaming at the moment as we have LOADS of indie games which would run fine on a potato, then we have AAA games which run ok on mid-high end hardware then VR which needs high end systems to run well (pcvr anyway).

If you don't care much for AAA or VR then the deck can last you a VERY long time.

Its well played on valves part as they have done so much work to make gaming more accessible and compatible on Linux and everyone gets to benefit from their work, not just consumers but devs and the Linux community as a whole.

I hope we continue on this trajectory with Linux and we see more companies start to invest in it as an eco system, especially when steamOS is officially available for pcs.

@paulthenerd I play most of my single player games on the deck now. It's just so much more convenient, the sleep function alone makes gaming as a parent 10x easier, I can just pick it up, play 10 mins and sleep it and resume later.

I'm not sure if it will pan out this way, but it feels like the #steamdeck is one of the most important devices of late for #pcgaming and #linuxgaming when you think about the AAA #gamedevelopment process.

So historically it's easier to develop for #consoles as you have a common spec to develop against so you know if it's going to run well. The deck easily could become the PCs common spec, giving a single lowest denominator that also can be used to verify #linux compatibility as well.

Would really love to see #capcom make a sort of cross between #darksouls and #residentevil which takes places just after the events of RE3.

Imagine being able to traverse a more souls-like open world style survival horror where you can go up the Arklay Mountains and find the remains of the Spencer Mansion, or go into the ruins of the city or other nearby places while trying to decide if you want to battle or sneak around the roaming creatures.

I know I mentioned #demoncrest the other day but playing #tearsofthekingdom makes me think #capcom could make a mechanically similar game but set in the #gargoylesquest universe (no idea what it's real name is).

You can use Firebrands flying ability like link uses the glider, you can add claw moves and projectile moves in like the crests, and have powers based on the crests like in #breathofthewild.

I could really work set as an open world game in the demon realm.

Anyone had any luck playing pancake games with friends in #vr or #xr

I was hoping for something like #vrchat rooms where you can witch videos or #YouTube but instead you just get to play a game together. Like imagine playing Dark Souls and getting stuck, but your friend is there to take the controller and do the boss.

I think #Bigscreen can do the showing of the game and letting others in to watch/chat with an avatar, but no virtual controller support there.

Given how popular #metroidvania games are these days it would hopefully do quite well.
