I might start back up with my "History of Robotics" series, I've still got about 20 draft posts from 2014. This one about John Dee's mechanical beetle seemed like a good one for the month of October:

I'm still learning what the best next steps are after self-publishing, but requesting access to your author profile on Goodreads feels like an achievement for some reason.

I'm excited to announce that I've published a book! The Robot Science Coloring Book contains over 30 pages based on sketches from my own robotics notebooks. It starts off exploring where some of the raw materials used to build robots come from, and progresses through various electronic and mechanical parts.

At the turn of the century there was widespread concern about what would happen as industrialization replaced jobs that were previously done by hand. At present, it seems that there are a number of similarities with how people are thinking about Al, but this also doesn't appear to be an exact repeat of history.

I'm still working on ramping up some of my old projects. Late last year I started saying that 2025 would be the year of the robot, but a number of businesses across the adjacent industries seem to be following a similar path

Recently I spent some time trying to figure out if there was a compelling cost-to-strength ratio when comparing oak to materials like aluminum, and carbon fiber (polymers are cheap but aren't practical to refine in my backyard)

I think the next step will be building an oak-twig robotic arm 🤖
