Lots of warbler chatter today, but not many sightings. I did have this lovable knucklehead commenting from the sidelines though. "Uh-huh, I see you talking, catbird. Who gives you peanut suet?"

#Coot chicks are beautiful in their own way.
They differ visually from their parents like the caterpillar from the butterfly...

Personally, I think they are aliens that can be raised like a cuckoo by the #coots and then faithlessly fly away with their flying saucer.

@Accidentalbirdest I was so happy. There were two males and I stuck around to see if they'd land nearby again, but no luck.

Backyard safari today. When I first saw this insect and I thought "beetle larva." Nope, as I got closer it popped a pair of wings and flew away! It's a rove beetle. Didn't know we had them here. #Beetles #macrophotography #Insects
