We noticed that our wonderful colleagues at the University of Jyväskylä have recently done a major update on their institutional repository, JYX:
They are still using the #DSpace backend for the storage of metadata and full-text files, but the DSpace user interface has been replaced with a new interface based on the #opensource #VuFind platform.
VuFind is quite familiar to many Finns, as the national #Finna discovery service is also based on it.
We were delighted to find out that the new data catalogue launched by the University of Helsinki is based on the #DSpace platform:

The first alpha version of Skosmos 3 has been published! This release provides a peek into the upcoming next major version of the Skosmos publishing tool for SKOS controlled vocabularies.
The release features a reimplemented front-end with a fresh layout and improved accessibility, as well as many architectural improvements and modernization of the codebase.

We ripped out the #DDC classifier created by Mathias Lösch 12 years ago and replaced it with one created by Christoph Broschinski. It is using #annif, the automated subject indexing toolkit.
DDC classification is what allows users to browse our index by subject area: https://www.base-search.net/Browse/Dewey
Christoph found out that the decision tree based #Omikuji https://github.com/tomtung/omikuji outperformed #ANN-based https://fasttext.cc/ so we are luckily using explainable AI #XAI.
