I am going to be shifting my main account to a new-to-me location within the Fediverse:

masto.deoan.org/@jsonstein

I will attempt to shift my followers/following lists across. if you do not “hear” from me for a while, try manually following me there.

the Judge is quite correct:

“A complaint mechanism could become a political tool to paralyze the court or a playground for gadflies. However, a skillfully drafted code could overcome this problem. Even a nonenforceable code that the justices formally pledged to respect would be an improvement on the current void.”

@matthewburton I just pushed this at a former colleague who is still at RIT. this could be a good match for a recent grad from there.

I’m hiring.

My team, which is overseeing the modernization of IRS IT with $10 billion+ from the Inflation Reduction Act, needs a coordinator. Someone early career who is beginning to see how much room for improvement there is with Federal IT, and is equipped for a high-profile mission. Must be active USG employee.

Please boost.

@matthewburton as a retired academic who studied the wonderfully byzantine linking within the US tax code for a while “once upon a time”, I salute you sir.

.@jeffjarvis is talking about his new book, The Gutenberg Parenthesis, at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco on July 25. He's afraid of an empty audience. Can you sign up to come in person (but it's also streamed). Use the code JARVISCWC for $10 off.

@mastodonmigration Your advice of wait and see feels more wise every day.

The public WC3 working group mailing lists on ActivityPub does give some windows into the state of work, however...

I'm not really feeling too great after I got into the bread cabinet AGAIN #Today on this #FriYay. Mom staff left the kitchen door open n I slipped in, found the bread and ate, well, SEVERAL slices of bakery grade whole 🌾 wheat nom noms! 😸 Plus I wouldn't let go of the bag when mom caught me red pawed and she had to SPRAY me with the kitchen faucet 😾to separate me from my stolen 🍞 booty. #NotSorry! #TuxedoCat #CatsOfMastodon

My union, SAG-AFTRA, is striking in Hollywood. It represents 160K movie and TV actors, as well as about 500 staffers at NPR. We journalists are not part of this strike but we support our fellow union workers!!!! ❤️ ❤️
I was never part of a union before coming to NPR but quickly learned the power of colleagues helping each other to be treated fairly at work!!!
