I just requested a mail-in ballot for the April 1 election in #Wisconsin. It seems like the right move.

Forgive the lack of research. Are artists not boycotting SXSW this year? Did they actually cave and decide to pay bands and kick out the weapons manufacturers and all of that?

Also, this was ground with my 1Zpresso JX-Pro, which I originally got as I was contemplating getting into the world of home espresso. I never made that jump, and now the grinder I have for pour over does indeed produce a whole lot of fines. I can only imagine how good this coffee would be with the K-Ultra or the ZP6 Special, but I work with what I have (hence the minimal agitation).

If anyone has any other tips (besides sifting, a bridge too far for me 😂) I'm all ears!

This week I have been absolutely spoiled by this Duwancho coffee by Ruby Coffee Roasters.

Basically using the Lance Hedrick 1-cup recipe but with my Origami dripper, using minimal agitation to avoid pulling out any bitterness. It tastes like grape jelly, straight up. If I increase the temp beyond 200℉, I start getting a little bit of the honey, but anywhere near boiling and it starts getting that dryness I'm not a fan of. But at 200℉, it's so fruity and delicious.

A white bag of coffee with a red logo up top that says the brand, "Ruby Colorful Coffees". There is a label on the bag with the name of the beans - Duwancho - and it says Ethiopia underneath. It lists flavor notes - grape, plum, cider, and honey - as well as additional inromation about the relationship, farm type, processing, region, variety, and elevation.A close up of ground coffee beans sitting in a paper filter. An overhead shot of an Origami coffee drippre, with ground coffee beans sitting in it.An overhead shot of a small glass containing little coffee beans. Ghostwriter (1992), Season 1, Episode 7 - Let's not forget Lenni's origin. Who can't relate to this? 😆

Ghostwriter (1992), Season 2, Episode 21. Incredible stuff. This show rocked my world as a kid, and this sequence makes it easy to remember why. Blaze Berdahl was great as Lenni 😂

I put together a list of shows I watched in 2024. It's not exactly a best of, it's not ranked (ordered by release date), but it's something. Also, Shōgun was certainly my favorite of the bunch, and that's easy to declare.

@phranck It's just one of those that you kinda have to build once you realize the data is available. Kudos, Jännät. I don't think I need to install it, but I admire the project most definitely.

This pop-tarts bowl broadcast is absolutely pathetic. The announcers are discussing pop-tarts in almost equal amounts as they're discussing football. There are logos all of the field. Graphics pop up with QR codes about fucking pop-tarts... just stop already. This could have been an entertaining football game, and instead you're making it an infomercial. I'm out. I'll watch college basketball.

This is so disturbing... such a blatant two-tiered system for regular folks and rich folks. God forbid your billions in profit be reduced in the slightest.

Post title:
Insurance industry leaned on DOJ to take Luigi Mangione case as deterrent against copycat killers: sources

By Joe Marino, Ben Kochman and Matt Troutman
Published Dec. 20, 2024, 8:22 p.m. ET

The visible text of the article reads:
"Health insurance industry leaders leaned on the US Department of Justice to prosecute accused UnitedHealthcare CEO assassin Luigi Mangione — arguing a federal case against the twisted folk hero would act as a deterrent for possible copycat vigilante killers, sources said Friday.

The feds swooped in with a four-count complaint against Mangione in the cold-blooded killing of Brian Thompson Thursday — scuttling Manhattan prosecutors’ hope of getting the first bite at the 26-year-old Ivy Leaguer in the courtroom.

Mangione instead faced a judge in Manhattan federal court following his dramatic arrival in the Big Apple — blindsiding his defense attorneys."

At the bottom, there's the top of a photo from the article showing Luigi Mangione being escorted by a large number of heavily armed guards in NYC.

Pixelfed is a very good alternative to the algorithmic hell that has become Instagram. I have very low hopes that it will ever become a viable option, but I hope that people catch on. Find me posting pictures of my dog there:

For no obvious reason at all, I've had Woodie Guthrie's song Pretty Boy Floyd playing in my head on repeat for most of the last week.

I see lots of funny men;
some will rob you with a six-gun,
and some with a fountain pen."
