@millihertz hmm, some specifics would be nice. could be a layout or power supply issue, or anything really

I had a silly idea to try to use an LED as a capacitor for mutual-capacitance capacitive touch sensing, while still maintaining the ability to drive the LED, and it worked! It's not very reliable with this kind of setup but if my idea works out I can put these in a 2d matrix and multiplex them.

Reading the language of today's reports of a hospital bombed, remembering the language of previous reports of previous hospitals bombed, thinking of this cartoon by Tom Gauld.

Cartoon by Tom Gauld. Two lands separated by river. Labels on land on the left: "Our blessed homeland, our glorious leader, our great religion, our noble populace, our heroic adventurers." Labels on the land on the right: "Their barbarous wastes, their wicked despot, their primitive superstition, their backward savages, their brutish invaders".

I want a display for $personalproject. Preferably something about 2.5" and full colour. Not overly fussed about resolution, it's just for text statuses and rough graphs. Can anyone recommend one that's easily available via the usual suppliers and preferably with an FFC connection option. This design is going open so I'd rather something widely available. Aliexpress is fine but must be available from other places too.

Edit: preferably talked to with SPI.

I had a look on CPC but they're limited to about 1" and being CPC the choice is limited. The 1" one did come with a proper datasheet though, even though it was just a rebadged Chinese module.

it seems to be unreasonably difficult to make an embedded device that 1. you can send files to over usb 2. doesn't use FAT as its filesystem

this is what MTP is for. in theory it's good. but in practice it is bad

USB, MSC, MTP, VID, PID, FAT. these are the TLAs making me sad at the moment

A text showing the word PRIDEMONTH that eventually fades and reveals IDE, an old standard for internally connecting storage devices, optical drives and some other devices like a Zip Disk Drive.

Shown below is the picture of a female 40 pin cable (not quite IDE, sorry!) in rainbow colors vaguely resembling an IDE cable.
